Akshay Kumar is one of the Bollywood actors who never fails to win hearts through his on-screen and off-screen charisma. Be it his humour or sharp wit, fans enjoy every bit of him. Currently, the actor is making headlines for his witty response to the question of his Housefull 5 fees at the trailer launch of the film. For the unversed, the fifth instalment of the Housefull franchise, Housefull 5, is all set to hit the screens on May 27, 2025.
A video from the trailer launch event of Housefull 5 surfaced on the internet, where Akshay was asked about his fees. The moment that caught netizens’ attention was when the actor humorously dodged the question posed by the media. Akshay also made a joke and enquired whether the interviewer had planned any raid. In his words:
"Agar maine paise liye honge toh main tujhe kyun bataunga? Tu humara bhatija lagta hai? Maine paise liye, bhut acche khase liye. Film bani, bhut acche khaase budget mein bani. Bhut maza aaya. Aaj khushi ka din hai, tune raid daalna hai?"
During the same event, Akshay was asked about the much-talked-about controversy surrounding his cult classic, Hera Pheri 3. Following the question, Akshay said that he and Paresh Rawal are very good friends. The actor also addressed the matter as serious and said that it would be handled by the court. In his words:
"I’ve worked with him since the last 30 years. 32 saal see unke saath kaam karte aya hoon. We are very good friends. He is a great actor. I really admire him. I don’t think this is a place where I am going to talk about it. Because, whatever has to happen — it is a very serious matter — it is a matter which is going to be handled. by the court. I don’t think I’m going to speak about it here."
The Hera Pheri 3 controversy started when Paresh Rawal made a sudden exit from the third instalment of the Hera Pheri franchise. Following his exit, Akshay Kumar, through his production, Cape of Good Films, sent a legal notice to Paresh Rawal claiming Rs. 25 crore for the damages caused to the production team. Later, Akshay’s legal team revealed that Paresh had taken the signing amount of Rs. 11 lakhs and started shooting.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the actor returned the signing amount with 15 percent interest to Akshay’s production house, Cape of Good Films. At the same time, it was also revealed that Paresh was supposed to be paid Rs. 15 crore for his role in the upcoming sequel, Hera Pheri 3. In fact, Paresh's sudden exit was called ‘unprofessional’ by the actors and makers of the film. On May 25, 2025, Paresh broke his silence and penned down a note on his X handle (formerly Twitter).
