With AI technology rapidly advancing globally and the internet playing a crucial role in everyone's modern life, people remain interested in learning about the lives of royals. But just like all of us, royalty also faces God's hardships, which no amount of money can resolve. One such royal family is from Saudi Arabia as their young Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled Bin was in a coma for nearly 20 years following a car crash in 2005.

Meet Saudi Arabia's 'Sleeping Prince', Al-Waleed bin

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal is a member of the Saudi royal family. While his family is famous in their own right, he is known across the world as 'the sleeping prince'. However, he is unaware of his title and the world's advancement as he has been trapped in a coma for nearly 20 years. He entered a coma after a horrific car accident, which saved him from death but trapped him in sleep. He marked his 36th birthday on April 18, 2025.

The whole story of the sleeping prince, Al-Waleed

Saudi Arabia's Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal was studying at a military college when he met with an unfortunate road accident in London 2005. Reports also claim that his other friends, who were sitting in the car, remained unharmed. After which, he suffered a brain haemorrhage and was in a coma. According to a report by Roya News, the prince has been on a ventilator since then, and is fed through a feeding tube at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh for the past two decades.

Prince Al-Waleed's father denied ending life support when a doctor advised

It is reported that once a doctor advised Al-Waleed's father, Prince Khalid bin Talal Al Saud, to end life support, he dismissed it as he hoped that one day his soul would wake up from his deep slumber. He decided to fight for his son and claimed that if God wanted to end his life in a car accident, then he would have been visiting his grave. He said, "If God had wanted him to die in the accident, he would have been in his grave now." The sleeping prince's mother, Reema also talked about feeling her son's spirit present with them.

According to reports, Prince Al-Waleed exhibited slight signs of awareness by lifting a finger or moving his head, but these gestures did not indicate a return to consciousness. These documented moments offered glimmers of hope to the family, but his return to normal life is a dream far-fetched.

How is Prince Al-Waleed related to the King of Saudi Arabia?

Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal is a member of the Saudi royal family, but he is not directly linked to the current monarch. His grandfather, Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was one of the many sons of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is known as the founding monarch of modern Saudi Arabia. Hence, Prince Al-Waleed is the great-grandson of King Abdulaziz. Additionally, the current ruler, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is also the son of King Abdulaziz, making him the great uncle of the sleeping prince of Saudi Arabia.

We hope Prince Al-Waleed will wake up one day!
