Alia Bhatt Addresses Intense Trolling On Her And Ranbir Over Lipstick Remark, 'If I'm Pretending...'

Alia Bhatt is one of the famous Indian actresses who never misses a chance to win the hearts of her fans with her amazing acting skills. The actress began her career with the movie Student Of The Year and then went on to shine in her path like no one else. In her personal life, the actress is married to Ranbir Kapoor, and they are parents to their adorable baby girl, Raha.

Alia Bhatt talks about the intense trolling she had to face for her remarks

Time and again, Alia has been trolled for her remarks. It was back in 2023, when Alia faced a whole lot of negative remarks as she said that her husband, Ranbir didn't like her to use lipstick much. Later, Ranbir was targeted and slammed by the social media users. Alia once defended him, and now she talked about the intense trolling she had to face for her remarks.

Alia recently sat for her interview with Grazia, wherein she stated that she's not going to project anything that she's not. The actress stated that as a public figure, there are numerous responsibilities, but sometimes it happens that people spill something in the flow, which she feels is acceptable. Alia said that she wanted to celebrate her flaws, as she thought there was even more pressure to be unflawed. Alia could be quoted as saying:

"I’m not going to try to project something that I’m not. There’s a responsibility as a public personality, but sometimes in the flow, you say things, which is okay. One of the things I said in my speech for the Time 100 Impact Award was that I was winning an award, but I wanted to celebrate my flaws because I think there is too much pressure to be unflawed today."

Alia Bhatt further went on to reveal that she doesn't have all the answers lined up, and now she's okay with not having the behavioural finesse. Alia stated that if she is pretending to be someone else, that's not who she actually is. Alia said:

"I don’t have all my ducks lined in a row and I don’t have all the right answers – I don’t have a lot of what you call behavioural finesse, but I’m okay with that – That’s who I am. If I’m pretending to be anything other than that, it’s not who I am."

Alia Bhatt defended Ranbir Kapoor after he got trolled for her lipstick remark

It was two years back when Alia, during an interview, revealed her lipstick application techniques. During the same time, the actress mentioned that her husband, who was once her boyfriend, preferred her natural lip colour to her lipsticks. For this reason, she would rub off her lipstick, as Ranbir would say, 'wipe it off, wipe it off'. Such a comment by Alia not only brought her flak, but also on Ranbir Kapoor. The actor was tagged as a 'red flag,' and people called him out for asking his then-girlfriend to 'wipe off' her lipstick.

Alia's remark got so stretched out that the trolling of Ranbir didn't stop soon, given his past link-up in the glamour world. Well, Ranbir, being Ranbir, remained unfazed about the same. Later, on Koffee With Karan, Alia revealed that Ranbir's comment was misinterpreted and it was emphasised as if her husband was not supportive enough. The actress revealed that the public comments hurt her too, but she realised that it's out of her control what the public perceives it to be. She also stated that Ranbir is the one who encourages her to focus on her work and not dwell on the negativity around her.
