Alia Bhatt had confessed her crush on Ranbir Kapoor on Koffee With Karan. The shooting of their upcoming film, Brahmastra had played the role of a Cupid between them, bringing them closer. At Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception in 2018, Alia and Ranbir had made their relationship official. For a few years now, Alia and Ranbir’s wedding reports often hit the headlines. This time, Alia shared in an interview that she is already married to Ranbir Kapoor.
On December 15, 2021, the cast of Brahmastra had unveiled the poster and had announced the release date of the much-awaited film. During the event, Alia Bhatt had asked Ranbir Kapoor if he remembered the first day when it had all started. To which, Ranbir had quipped, "You mean, when 'WE' started?" Then, answering his girlfriend, Alia, Ranbir had not just revealed the exact date and place but had also shared one of the cutest moments of their relationship. He had said:
"2017, 1st of January, Israel, Tel Aviv. And, I remember there's a picture on your Instagram that you put the next morning with a black ganji and a leather jacket which, by the way, she sent to me 15 minutes before she put it on Instagram."

In a 2020 interview with Rajeev Masand, Ranbir Kapoor had shared that had there not been the pandemic, he would have been married to Alia Bhatt. Now, in an interview with NDTV, Alia reacted to the same and shared that she is already married to Ranbir, in her head. Sharing that whenever their wedding happens, it will be in a beautiful way, Alia said:
"I'm already married to Ranbir Kapoor in my head. And, I think I've been married to him in my head for a long time. But, I think he's not wrong. I think definitely. But, everything happens for a reason. I feel like the timing of even when we get married, it's all going to work out in all the right and beautiful way."
It seems that finally, 2022 will be the year when Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will get hitched. According to many reports, the much-in-love couple is going to have a lavish wedding in 2022 at their favourite destination, Ranthambore. As per a report in ETimes:
"Those in the know believe that Ranbir-Alia will choose to marry in Ranthambore, Rajasthan because that's where the two have vacationed the most and it's a favourite destination for both."

On the other hand, a source close to Alia Bhatt had revealed to BollywoodLife, that the couple wouldn't have a destination wedding and would marry in Mumbai in a very intimate wedding. The source had said:
"Alia and Ranbir might not to a destination wedding but will get hitched in Mumbai itself. The couple will tie the knot in the presence of their close and loved ones, they don't want to do a lavish wedding. It will be closed knit affair as Ranbir and Alia, both are very private individuals."
