Over the years, we have seen many incredible actors in the Indian film industry. However, a series of names come before us when we talk about depicting romance and love on the big screen. One such name is Emraan Hashmi. The actor is renowned for the title ‘serial kisser’. However, it is not just the kisses that made him a household name in India but also the fact that there’s hardly any other actor, who can challenge Emraan when it comes to the soundtrack of their films. So one thing that you can always expect from Emraan Hashmi’s films is good music.
For years, the late legendary singer, Krishnakumar Kunnath, commonly known as KK, was Emraan Hashmi’s voice on the big screen in many chart-busters. The dynamic duo of Emraan and KK is still one of the most celebrated and successful actor-singer partnerships in Indian cinema.

Some of the most memorable songs of Emraan and KK are Zara Si, Tujhe Sochta Hoon, Mere Bina, Haan Tu Hain, O Meri Jaan, Jannatein Kahan, Dil Ibbabat, and the list goes on. In his illustrious career, Emraan has given so many memorable performances in films like Jannat, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Awarapan, Gangster, Murder 2, Shanghai, The Dirty Picture, Murder, Jannat 2, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Azhar, Tigers, and many more.
However, there’s no denying the fact that Emraan is one of the most underrated actors in the industry. Yet, despite giving so many hits in his career, he is still far from the sort of admiration and spotlight that other stars are getting, who are not even close to his stature.
Emraan Hashmi’s professional life is quite interesting as he has done almost all sorts of roles, as he loves experimenting with his looks and range as an actor. Just like his professional front, even his personal front is full of spellbinding facts. One such fact is that Emraan Hashmi and Alia Bhatt are cousins. For the unversed, Emraan Hashmi’s paternal grandmother, Meherbano Mohammad Ali was a renowned actress in India by the name of Purnima Das Verma.

After her broken marriage with Syed Shauqat Hashmi, she married producer-director, Bhagwan Das Verma. Mehenbano was the sister of Shirin Mohammad Ali, who was the mother of producers, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, which makes Emraan nephew of Mahesh Bhatt and cousin to the latter’s daughter, Alia.
It was in 2014 when Emraan Hashmi graced Karan Johar’s celebrity talk show, Koffee With Karan, with his uncle, Mahesh Bhatt. During the rapid-fire segment of the show, Emraan was asked to give one piece of advice to Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. At that time, reports were rife that Ranbir and Katrina were dating each other and even started living together in the latter months of 2014.
In response to Karan’s question, Emraan straightforwardly advised Ranbir to stop playing ladies' man. However, it was his advice to Katrina that created controversy, as he advised Katrina to break up with her rumoured boyfriend, Ranbir. He said:
"Stop playing the ladies’ man stereotype. The press wants it more than you. Lose him (Ranbir Kapoor)."
Isn't it strange how Emraan Hashmi suggested Katrina Kaif to dump Ranbir Kapoor, and years later, he got married to his cousin, Alia Bhatt? Well, this is what life is all about. No wonder, since Alia-Ranbir's marriage, people are still anxiously waiting for a mega family event where they can see Ranbir-Alia posing with the latter's cousin, Emraan, despite what had happened in the past.
According to a 2016 India TV report, Emraan Hashmi was once offered a romantic-comedy film in which he was paired opposite Alia Bhatt. The makers of the project wanted Emraan and Alia to come together as lead actors in their film. However, the actor immediately declined the offer and was quite upset with the makers.
The actor was furious as everyone in the industry is very much aware of the fact that Emraan and Alia are cousins. Hence to receive an offer in which they were asked to romance each other was truly disappointing for Emraan. The actor distanced himself from the makers as he found the offer quite disrespectful to himself, Alia and their beautiful bond as cousins.

However, if you think ‘Emraan Hashmi and Alia Bhatt are cousins’ is the only interesting fact about the Jannat actor, then ‘No’ is the answer. Courtesy of Emraan’s preference to live a low-key life, despite being such a big star, is why his family relations are still unknown to many. The actor is completely opposite to his onscreen image and is an extremely shy person in real life.
The actor rarely talks about his family in interviews. He has successfully managed to keep them away from the reach of shutterbugs and headlines makers, which is one of the reasons why people don’t know that Emraan Hashmi’s parents, Anwar Hashmi and Maherrah Hashmi, were actors. Emraan’s mother, Maherrah Hashmi, worked in the film industry briefly and was a homemaker most of her life. His father also worked as a businessman after working in a few films. Emraan’s father, Anwar’s most notable work, was in the film, Baharon Ki Manzil, which was released in 1968. However, the dapper actor had hardly talked about his parents' connection with the film industry.

For the unversed, Emraan Hashmi got married to the love of his life, Parveen Shahani on December 14, 2006. The couple knew each other since childhood, and after dating each other for years, they got married in an intimate nikah ceremony. After some years of their married life, it was on February 3, 2010, when Emraan and Parveen were blessed with a son and they named him Ayaan. Since then, their lives are revolving around their son. In most of his interviews, Emraan talks about his fatherly duties and how he is enjoying the grown-up years of his son.
However, when Ayaan was just four, the little kid was diagnosed with cancer. It was a turbulent time for Emraan and Parveen, but they kept their calm and did everything in their power. In the end, the parents won as Ayaan succeeded in beating cancer. Since then, Emraan, Parveen and Ayaan keep on giving everyone pure family goals with their cutesy snippets from their lives which rarely appear on the internet.
