It is that time of the year again when the world awaits celebrities across the world to come together to celebrate the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The event will start on May 13, 2025, and will end on May 24, 2025. However, the highlight of the festival will be a notable Bollywood celebrity's debut on the red carpet along with two veteran Bollywood actresses. Read on to know more about it!
For the unversed, Alia Bhatt is now the brand ambassador of the L'Oreal brand and has joined the former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The Jigra actress joined the L'Oreal tribe last year, and was seen donning a white-hued top with the tagline of the brand, 'I'm worth it'. Another highlight of this year's Cannes is that the American acting legend, Rober De Niro, will be awarded the honorary Palme d'Or for lifetime achievement during the opening ceremony. Alia expressed her joy of joining the Cannes and said:
"There's something absolutely special about firsts."
Nicole Kidman is going to be honoured with the 2025 Women in Motion Award on May 18, 2025. Hollywood legend Tom Cruise will also be present at Cannes 2025 for the screening of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning at the Grand Theatre Lumiere on May 14, 2025.
It is worth mentioning that no Indian film is competing for the Palme d'Or 2025. However, several Indian celebrities would mark their presence as prominent. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be back with her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, to attend the glamorous appearance with another bold look. For those who don't know, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her debut at the film festival over two decades ago for the premiere of Devdas. Since then, she has been the iconic Indian actress associated with Cannes.
The Cannes 2025 will also witness India's veteran actress, Sharmila Tagore, who will be creating history as she makes her return and will screen the newly restored version of Satyajit Ray's 1970 classic Aranyer Din Ratri (Days and Nights in the Forest) under the Cannes Classics section.

Her co-actress, Simi Garewal, would also join Sharmila Tagore for the premiere. It is worth mentioning that the restoration was made possible by the combined efforts of The Film Foundation, India's Film Heritage Foundation, Janus Films and The Criterion Collection. American director, Wes Anderson, a board member of The Film Foundation, will honour Satyajit Ray.
Filmmaker, Payal Kapadia would also return to Cannes, this time as a jury member. Last year, Payal showed India's cinematic voice on the global stage with her film, All We Imagine As Light. Also, Karan Johan, Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor are all set to represent Homebound alongside director, Neeraj Ghaywan. The film received a lot of attention as Martin Scorses signed on as an executive producer. It is also believed that Urvashi Rautela will also be back on the red carpet of Cannes 2025.
Well, we cannot wait to see Alia, Aishwarya and other Indian celebrities on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.
