Aly Goni Slams Trolls Over Jasmin Bhasin's Abaya Video Amid Ganpati Chanting Controversy

Aly Goni has lately been embroiled in controversies surrounding religion. Aly clapped back at the trolls, clarifying that he was adhering to his faith without disrespecting other religions. However, the issue was far from over. His comment drew in even more hate, as a past video of his girlfriend, Jasmin Bhasin, wearing an abaya in a mosque resurfaced. Fans have accused Aly of being a hypocrite, as he is said to be forcing his religious sentiments on Jasmin. He broke his silence on the issue, giving the trolls a befitting reply.

Aly Goni reacted to trolling over Jasmin Bhasin's abaya video

Aly Goni has addressed the trolling Jasmin Bhasin received for wearing an abaya during a visit to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi in 2023. Speaking to FilmyGyan, he mentioned that the backlash recently resurfaced after he was trolled for not chanting 'Ganpati Bappa Morya' during a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Aly addressed the false claims that Jasmin had been forced to convert and clarified why Jasmin and his sister had to wear the particular garment to enter the mosque.

According to him, people twisted the incident and presented it in a way that made it seem like Aly took Jasmin to the religious place and made her wear the abaya. However, that was not the case, as the abaya had to be purchased because they were not allowed to enter the mosque without wearing one. Aly was disheartened as his Ganpati chanting controversy was linked with Jasmin's 2023 issue, and said:

"Jasmin aur meri behen jab wahan gaye the toh unhe enter nahi karne diya, toh unhone paas se abaya kharida, vo pehna aur enter kiya. Ab usko ye bana diya hai ki main Jasmin ko Madina lekar gaya. Toh ab aap dekho, maine 'Ganpati Bappa Morya' nahi bola toh log kya kya bolrahe hein."

Besides the backlash over Jasmin wearing an abaya at a mosque, the couple is also being criticised over her keeping roza, an Islamic ritual of fasting. Aly refuted the rumours that he asked Jasmin to keep Roza and asserted that both of them respect each other's religious beliefs and never forced anything on each other. Mentioning their 4-year-old relationship, he stated that Jasmin wouldn't have stayed with him for so long if they didn't have that kind of understanding between them. Sharing that keeping Roza was entirely her wish, he stated:

"Jasmin mere saath pichhle 4 saal se hai, aur agar vo feel good nahi karti toh main thodi usko bolunga Roza rakh. Uski apni marzi, uska apna religion, vo jo kare yaar. Main use kyun force karunga aur vo mujhe kyun force karegi."
