Aman Gupta became a well-known name in the Indian market with his electronic brand, BoAt. However, it was Shark Tank India that made him a household name. While the 'shark' has been a constant in the series, he was not too pleased by the new additions to the latest season of the popular business reality TV show.
Aman Gupta made some serious claims during a conversation with Prakhar Gupta. He revealed that the new additions to the Shark Tank India judges panel have some ulterior motives. He stated that he prefers companies that are doing well because then he can be sure that they are in the show for the right reasons. He added that his character has been clean since the beginning. However, some people who have seen him and Anupam Mittal grow on the show felt like they had missed an opportunity. Hence, they came chasing back to be a part of the show. Aman could be quoted as saying:
"Aman Gupta may have evolved from season 1 to 4, but his character has been the same. We don't do any useless stuff. Love us or hate us, this is who we are. Namita (Thapar) always been honest about where her expertise lies. I had a way of life, and I'd do it. I'm not scared. That's why I sometimes don't like these new sharks, otherwise it's okay."
In the same conversation, Aman Gupta further added that many people have a God complex once they are successful and the media starts to write about them. However, according to him, that is where the downfall of a person begins. He further cited his mother and said, 'Even Ravana couldn't keep his pride'. Aman revealed that people need to accept and believe that. He stated that people don't need to have the ego that they can't do any wrong or that they are the best, because there is always someone who is doing better. He added:
"Money is never-ending. I think a little differently. You should just be happy with what you're doing, and money would follow. I wasn't happy with what I was doing. When I quit my job at JBL, I was sitting at home jobless for four to five years. I didn't earn anything then, but I was happy because I was doing what I wanted to, and eventually, money came in."
Tech investor, Kunal Bahl, Veeba founder, Viraj Bahl, and Rayazon Solar director, Chirag Nakrani, are among the new joinees on the Shark Tank India judges panel. Aman also underlined how he's been chasing happiness, and not money, ever since he began his journey as an entrepreneur. He added that he focuses on his work rather than the result and stated:
"I was working on boAt then, was having fun, was making good products, keeping the consumer in mind. I didn't realise it'd become such a big company today, and I'd earn so much money. Like Krishna told Arjuna in the Mahabharata, 'Karma karo, fal ki chinta mat karo'. That's what it is. Like they say, if you chase your shadow, the shadow will run away. Just like that, if you chase money, money would just run away."
Shark Tank India is the Indian adaptation of the American business reality show by the same name. It premiered on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV in 2021. The show's OG judges include co-founder and CMO of BoAt lifestyle, Aman Gupta, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita Thapar, co-founder and CEO of Lenskart, Peyush Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Sugar Cosmetics, Vineeta Singh and co-founder and CEO of People Group, Anupam Mittal.
