Charlie Kirk's assassination has left people shocked to the core. It was on September 10, 2025, when Charlie Kirk was shot as he was giving a speech during a public event in Utah. A whole lot of discussion has been going on about the same, and 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested as the alleged perpetrator in Charlie Kirk's assassination. For the unversed, Tyler was turned in by his own father. However, it was actress Amanda Seyfried who made a comment, while calling Charlie 'hateful', which led to her facing a significant amount of criticism online. Now, she hit back and defended her comment on Charlie Kirk.
After Charlie Kirk was shot in his neck, several videos surfaced online, wherein the conservative activist's remarks about immigration, trans rights and more made rounds on social media platforms, which stirred up controversies around. It was Amanda Seyfried, who responded in one such IG post featuring Charlie's controversial remarks. She called Charlie 'hateful'. She also re-shared a message, seemingly on Charlie Kirk's death, thereby mentioning that one cannot invite violence to the dinner table and get shocked when it starts eating. Such comments garnered a significant amount of backlash for Amanda. The IG message, she re-shared, could be read as:
"You can’t invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating."
Amid the backlash, Amanda Seyfried now reacted to the same by sharing that she doesn't want to fuel the fire, but rather wants to clarify that the context was misinterpreted. She also mentioned that people have been forgetting the nuances of humanity. She further talked about her freedom to be angry over the comments that are racist and misogynistic in nature. Equally, she agreed to the fact that Charlie's death was disturbing and deplorable. Defending her comments, Amanda mentioned:
"I don’t want to add fuel to a fire. I just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context. Spirited discourse- isn’t that what we should be having? We’re forgetting the nuance of humanity. I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable."
For the uninitiated, one of the highest-paid hosts, Jimmy Kimmel, has recently been let go by ABC, as reported. Not only this, but Jimmy Kimmel Live! has also been pulled off the air by ABC indefinitely. He, during the night show, criticised the 'MAGA gang' for politicising the brutal assassination of Charlie Kirk. As the nation honoured Kirk by lowering the flag to half-mast, Jimmy criticised this by tagging it immature. He stated that it felt something like a child losing their pet rather than the loss of a conservative activist. Such comments made a stir, while demanding an apology from Jimmy and strict action from ABC.
Charlie Kirk's demise had caused a nationwide shock. For the unversed, Kirk was a conservative activist who, at the age of 18, co-founded Turning Point USA (TPUSA), which has since become the most influential conservative student movement in the country. He was an ally of Donald Trump, as well as a cultural warrior, and his demise has come as a shock to everyone, given the brutality embedded in it.
