They issued a statement and mentioned their painful decision to separate from each other after 7 years of marriage. However, they also asked for privacy from their fans and followers. The actors told in a statement:
"We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."

Rumours about Sofia and Joe's marriage hitting a rough patch have been doing the rounds in the media for quite some time. They were further fueled when Sofia posted pictures from her 51st birthday celebrations in Italy in July 2023. However, those pictures did not show her estranged husband, Joe Manganiello. Ahead of this, Joe posted a birthday post for Sofia with a throwback picture and penned, "Happy Birthday Sofia" in the caption. In addition, a source close to the couple opened up about their falling apart marriage to Page Six. The source can be quoted as saying:
"Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future."
Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara first met through her former co-star, Jesse Tyler Ferguson. It was during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2014 when Joe got captivated by Sofia. However, she was engaged to Nick Loeb at the time. Later, when Sofia and Nick’s split news surfaced online, Joe made his move by asking Jesse for the Modern Family actress' phone number. And although Sofia felt she wasn’t ready to date then, Joe eventually won her over.

The lovebirds then went for their first date in 2014 in New Orleans, LA, where Sofia was filming Hot Pursuit. Afterwards, by August 2014, they made their relationship official, and the duo moved in together by November 2014. Afterwards, they got engaged in December 2014, followed by a wedding on November 22, 2015, in the presence of their close family and friends at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach. However, after living together for seven long years, they decided to part ways.
For the unversed, Sofia Vergara was previously married to Joe Gonzalez. The marriage took place when the actress was only 18 years old and ahead of her joining the industry. Within a year into their marriage, in 1991, they welcomed their son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara. However, in 1992, Sofia got separated from her first husband, Joe. Though much is not known about them, their son, Manolo often posts old pictures with his daddy on his social media handles.
