Amitabh Bachchan, the shahenshah of Bollywood, never skips a chance to win the hearts of his fans with his jaw-dropping acting talents. Over the years, Amitabh has provided us with some notable movies. With credit to over 200 films, Big B is still fighting like a true hero, and now, even in his 80s, the actor can give the new-age actors a run for money. In his personal life, Amitabh is happily married to Jaya Bachchan, and they are parents to two kids, who are also well-settled in their respective personal and professional lives.
Big B resides in Jalsa, which is worth Rs. 100-120 crore. Recently, director, Sanjay Gupta walked down memory lane and recalled his experience of visiting Amitabh Bachchan's home. Talking on a podcast, Sanjay shared that for the movie, Kaante, Amitabh Bachchan was not the first choice, and it was Sanjay Dutt who suggested to the director that he should narrate the story to Big B. Sanjay fixed a meeting between Amitabh Bachchan and the director at Jalsa. Talking about the same, director, Sanjay said:
"Sanjay Dutt had called up Amitji to ask if I could narrate the film and he fixed the meeting for two days later at 11 am. I was very nervous, at 10:55 am I pulled up outside Amitji’s house and two guards came running and said they would park the car."
Talking about his experience, Sanjay Gupta shared that he reached Jalsa near 10:55 am, and two guards directed him inside. Upon climbing the stairs, Sanjay revealed witnessing black and white portraits of Amitabh Bachchan from his shoots and films. He added that till the second floor, Amitabh Bachchan's home seemed little. In Sanjay's words:
"So by the time you reach the second floor, you seem very little. Then they took me to a very well-furnished room where I sat on a sofa and was offered refreshments."
Going further in the interview, Sanjay Gupta shared how he felt after meeting Amitabh Bachchan, who walked in wearing a white Pathaani. Sanjay said he knew that Big B was into very hi-tech sound systems, and his home, Jalsa had some speakers and gramophones worth Rs. 50-60 lakhs. Not only this, Sanjay also revealed witnessing 25 to 30 pens on a desk, which were Mont Blanc’s designer editions. Sharing more about his experience, Sanjay stated:
"Suddenly the door from behind opened, and this giant figure walked out in a white Pathaani, introducing himself. He took me to another room and said he would be back in five minutes. I knew Big B was into very hi-tech sound systems, so the speakers and gramophones he uses are like Rs 50-60 lakhs plus, I saw that equipment. On his desk there was this mug, it had 25 to 30 pens in it and they were all Mont Blanc’s designer editions."
In the same interview, Sanjay Gupta said that the thought that was occurring to him back then was that one day he would tell his grandchildren about the day when he narrated a story to Big B at his home, Jalsa. He shared that the actor loved the narration of the movie, Kaante, and it was the most terrifying 25-30 seconds of his life, which was filled with silence after his narration for the movie was over.
