On Koffee With Karan Season 6, Karan Johar has managed to rope in some interesting and best combinations from B-town. From Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor to Saif Ali Khan and Sara Ali Khan, the latest celebrity duo to join the bandwagon and share the Koffee couch was Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. All the episodes turned out to be our weekly dose of entertainment and it was a treat to watch the camaraderie between the celebrities. From making interesting anecdotes about their childhood and family to baring their heart out about their professional and personal lows, Abhishek and Shweta had set the Koffee couch on fire. Shweta explained how their mother, Jaya Bachchan’s “eyes light up” when she sees her son, Abhishek. Shweta shared, “The reaction she has to Shah Rukh when she sees him in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, is exactly what she has for Abhishek, minus the aarti ka thali”.
Shweta Bachchan Nanda revealed that she went to watch Abhishek Bachchan’s film, Manmarziyaan with their dad, Amitabh Bachchan and he cried after watching the film. So much so that when Shweta insisted him to talk to Abhishek on phone, he refused. Big B got so emotional that he couldn’t speak. The interesting part of the incident came when Shweta shared that Amitabh Bachchan doesn’t usually weep. But he was clearly touched by his son’s performance.
On the other hand, Shweta shared that Jaya Bachchan hasn’t seen the film and was sceptical about the same. Reason being, she was nervous about the fact that she might end up criticising Abhishek if she didn’t like his performance. Abhishek went on the reveal that his parents, Amitabh ji and Jaya ji are his tough critics and they don’t mince their words before telling him about his work.
Speaking about the downfall in his career graph, Abhishek shared on the show, “It’s tricky; it’s not the pressure of what was happening...it was more about how I was approaching my work which I thought was incorrect. I was becoming very complacent and unconformable. I was part of huge films, huge budgets, huge stars, huge collections, everything was hunky-dory, I had no pressure as I was standing by the side or behind somebody else who was shouldering all the pressure, and I was making lots of money, those films were making lots of money, it became very easy. With all respect to my all co-stars, I didn’t come to the industry to the stand behind anyone.” (Also Read: Shweta Bachchan Nanda Reveals Her Selfish Reason For Not Letting Daughter Navya Nanda Join Bollywood)

When asked if he ever felt heavy-hearted on being a part of the film but not the central role, Abhishek replied, “It very weird...I say this with all the respect to my co-stars, I genuinely enjoyed those films but it is heartbreaking for any actor who has been once centre staged to be on the side..It is difficult to digest. That hurt, that humiliation is important. The industry is the brutal place. No one is entitled to say that I am who I am and I deserve this. Everyone has to earn it. You have to earn your place in the industry. From centre you move to the left frame, it’s very hurtful.”
When Karan asked Abhishek about what it is like to live under the constant pressure and expectations that come from being Amitabh Bachchan’s son, Junior B replied, “It’s very difficult Karan. I’ve never said this, but it is.” Abhishek added that he does seek validation from his father but doesn’t know how to react on the rare occasions when he says good things about his performances.
