Amitabh Bachchan is the reigning evergreen superstar of Bollywood and there are no second thoughts about the same. The talented actor has, time and again, proved his impeccable acting chops in some of the most iconic films at the box-office to date. Big B, as he is fondly recognised by his fans, was the first actor to bring the trend of the ‘angry young man’ to the Indian cinema, breaking a certain monotony. Apart from his prolific professional life, Amitabh Bachchan is revered for his deeply valued personal life. Son of eminent writer, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Big B has certainly passed on some unimpeachable traditions to the Bachchan clan after him.
Amidst his decades-long acting career, it was the film, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham that is still counted as an epitome of family values and family love. Evidently, the multi-starer movie went onto become a cult favourite of millions of audiences, who still love it today. However, did you know that Big B had once even stopped talking to his own family members during the shooting of a particular scene in the film. Well, the film’s AD, Nikhil Advani, in one of his previous interactions with Rediff, divulged the actual reason behind the senior actor doing such a gesture. He said:
“Amit ji’s character kicks Shah Rukh Khan out of the house for marrying Kajol. He was supposed to say, “aaj tumne sabit kar diya ki tum mere khoon nahin.” But to get into a ‘stern’ mode, Big B stopped talking to everyone in his house.”

Moving further in the revelation, Nikhil Advani heaped praises on Amitabh Bachchan’s dedication towards the craft. Furthermore, he shared how the former’s decision to stop talking to his family members in order to nail a certain dialogue in the film, angered the actor’s wife, Jaya Bachchan. Nikhil remembered Jaya reprimanding him for her husband’s changed behaviour back home and stated:
“Jayaji, who is like a mother to all the ADs, reprimanded me, saying I had no idea what I had done. ‘Since the last two days, he has not been speaking to me or the kids, just moping around and being rude to everybody,’ she confided. ‘Why?’ I asked, surprised. She explained that he had been getting into the ‘zone’. ‘But he has only one line to deliver!’ I exclaimed.”
Well, agree or not, even today, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is no less than a magnum opus of family dramas in Hindi cinema. Filmmaker, Karan Johar took a big responsibility for roping in some of the top actors of the time together, so as to enliven his dream film. Moreover, this film also marked the on-screen comeback of the husband-wife duo, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. In an earlier interaction with fashion designer, Prabal Gurung, Karan recalled how he had to approach both Amitabh and Jaya separately for their roles in the film, which they only agreed after a long time for consideration.

Much like his on-screen character in the film, K3G, Amitabh Bachchan, in his real life as well, is quite deeply rooted to his family, and is extremely close to each and every one of them. Despite being a high profile film family, the senior actor doesn’t shy away from revealing a few anecdotes about the dynamics of the Bachchan clan. For instance, in a previous episode of his show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh remarked that his family feels like mini-India to him. Elaborating on the reason behind the same, he said:
“What I like the most is the fact that my family is so diverse. My daughter married someone in Punjab and my son in the south. We have people from all across the country, it’s like a mini-India and we love it.”
