Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan's 49th Marriage Anniversary, Granddaughter Navya Drops Throwback Pics

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are the evergreen couple of Bollywood, who has set an example for the younger generation with their undying love and trust for each other. It was in the 1970s when the ‘angry young man’ of Bollywood had fallen in love with the Bengali beauty, Jaya Bhaduri as the film sets of Ek Nazar had played a cupid between the soulmates. However, a major turn had come into their love story, when their friends had put a condition in front of the couple ahead of the release of the movie, Zanjeer (1973). They had stated that if the film would become a super hit at the box office, they would go on a trip to London.

However, it was Amitabh Bachchan’s parents, who did not permit him to go on a trip with a girl unless he marries her. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Amitabh had tied the knot with the woman of his dreams, Jaya Bhaduri on June 3, 1973. Since then, the couple has been in marital bliss for close to five decades and their relationship is loved by many. Amitabh and Jaya are proud parents to two beautiful children, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. The iconic couple is also doting grandparents to Aardhya Bachchan, Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda. And today, i.e, on June 3, 2022, Navya shared two throwback pictures to wish her nana nani a happy marriage anniversary.

June 3, 2022, marked Amitabh and Jaya’s 49th wedding anniversary. And to make the day a bit more special, their loving granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, who is an entrepreneur by profession, took to her IG stories and posted three precious monochrome glimpses of the couple from her memory trunk. The first candid picture was from the sets of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, where the duo had played husband and wife on-screen. A shy Jaya is seen hiding her face while laughing as the Piku actor had hugged her from behind. The second picture is from their early dating days, and the third picture is a recent one where the couple is seen happily posing for the camera with their grey hair. The photographs were a beautiful representation of how the couple grew old together. Check out!

In an old interview with the Friday magazine back in 2015, the doting husband, Amitabh had spilled the beans and had revealed the secret to a happy married life. He had said gloomy days and disagreements are part of every marriage. Amitabh had further shared how sometimes Jaya becomes embarrassingly straightforward with him, but he never tries to change her personality. Amitabh could be quoted as saying:

"In any marriage, there are ups and downs and areas where disagreements take place but that’s all part of it. Jaya is extremely open and very straight. Sometimes embarrassingly straight but that’s how her nature is. I’ve never tried to disturb that quality of hers and she’s not disturbed my quality of being myself. When I want to be left alone, she leaves me alone."

Earlier in an interview with DNA, Jaya had shared how she had fallen in love with the ‘Big B’ of Bollywood. She had mentioned that she was fascinated by the fact that he was the great poet, Harivanshrai Bachchan’s son. Sharing how people had laughed at her when she had shared her feelings, Jaya had stated:

"I was introduced to him on the sets of Guddi. I was impressed by him and somewhat in awe as he was Harivanshrai Bachchan's son. I felt he was different, though people laughed at me when I said that. I expressed my feelings and said he's going to make it big, even though I was aware he wasn't the usual stereotype hero. I fell in love with him very soon."
