Amitabh Bachchan is more than just a name for cinema lovers. Born to the poet, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and social activist, Teji Bachchan, he had made his debut as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen's Bhuvan Shome (1969) and his first film as an actor was Saat Hindustani, released in the same year. We might run out of superlatives to define the superstar, Mr Bachchan and he rightfully deserves being called a legend or the Shahenshah of Bollywood. He didn’t reach where he is today overnight but after his fair share of struggles and failures. Big B had even seen some dark days in his career where he was bankrupt and his films weren’t also doing well. However, he returned and how!

Amitabh Bachchan has proved that Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap isn’t just a random phrase as even at the age of 78, his hard work and energy level can put any millennial to shame. A star, who established himself as an ‘Angry Young Man’ in an era where cliched romantic films dominated the industry and became 'Star of the Millennium', because each character he played in his more than five decades of career, still resonates with the audience. March 19, 2021, was a big day for Bollywood and cinema lovers as Amitabh Bachchan received a notable award from renowned Hollywood filmmakers.
Amitabh Bachchan was awarded by The International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), the organisation of film archives and museums from across the world, on March 19, 2021. The award was bestowed on him by iconic Hollywood filmmakers, Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan, virtually. Big B is the first Indian to receive the award for his contribution towards the preservation of India’s film heritage. Sharing pictures from the ceremony, Big B tweeted, “Deeply honoured to have been conferred the 2021 FIAF Award. Thank you FIAF, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan for bestowing the award on me in the ceremony today. Modern technology be praised. Connected virtually to rest of the World simultaneously.”
Amitabh Bachchan also posted a picture on his Instagram handle, with the caption, “I am deeply honoured to have been conferred with the 2021 FIAF Award. Thank you to FIAF and to Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan for bestowing the award on me in the ceremony today. Our commitment to the cause of saving India’s film heritage is unshakeable and Film Heritage Foundation will continue its efforts to build a nationwide movement to save our films.@FHF_Official @fiaf1938 @shividungarpur.” Sharing his post on her IG stories, Big B’s granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda added a yellow heart emoticon atop it. It is indeed a proud moment for the Bachchan family.

Speaking about presenting the prestigious FIAF Award to Amitabh Bachchan, the President of the International Federation of Film Archives, Frederic Maire had said in an interview with Variety, “FIAF has very been active in India and South Asia, thanks to its close collaboration with Film Heritage Foundation, since 2015. By presenting our prestigious FIAF Award to Amitabh Bachchan, we want to show the world how rich and diverse, but also how fragile, this unique film heritage is, and we want to publicly thank Bachchan for his role as a high-profile advocate for the rescue of this heritage, in India and beyond.”
Navya Naveli Nanda is an avid Instagrammer like her grandpa, Amitabh Bachchan and a few days ago, when he had shared his midnight thoughts on music, she had dropped the sweetest comment on his post. Dressed in a tracksuit and printed bandana, Mr Bachchan had relaxed on the couch with a recording mic in front of him and he had captioned the picture as “.... if music be the food of love play on .. give me excess of it ..” To which, Navya had commented, “Love you” followed by a heart emoji.
