Amitabh Bachchan is one of the greatest actors of all time, and there is no denying the fact. There will be none like him in generations to come. No one can match his screen presence and charisma, and the proof of the same was in his recently released film, Kalki 2898 AD. The film also featured Kamal Haasan as the negative lead. Talking about why the film was shelved, the co-director of the film, K Bhagyaraj, revealed that Amitabh Bachchan was insecure as Kamal Haasan had to die in the movie, and most of the limelight would be taken away from him. In K Bhagyaraj's words:
"According to the script, Kamal Haasan has to die, and only then would it be apt for the story. But then Kamal Haasan will have all the names from the film, and Amitabh's character will not stand in people's minds much. This didn't sit well with Amitabh, and he said he couldn't do the film and didn't want to spoil the name he had made over the years for one film. He then offered bulk dates to the producers of Khabardar as compensation."
Amitabh Bachchan shelved the movie halfway for personal reasons, as he didn't want to compromise on screen timing and limelight. However, he considered the producers' loss and had a word with them. Amitabh Bachchan gave them bulk dates for the shooting of another film. Unfortunately, the film never got made. Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan later united in the film, Geraftar.
