Amrutha Suresh recently sat down for an interview with the SCREEN and revealed the support she had received from Gopi after she lost her father. Amrutha revealed that Gopi, like a dutiful son-in-law, had come to perform the last rites of her father and had also lit the funeral pyre. Amrutha Suresh revealed that Gopi stood for her like a pillar of support when she had lost her father. She realised that it was difficult for her to move on from the pain, but she had no option but to stay strong and accept the reality. He supported her after she suffered from years of pain, lack of respect, and abuse. He came during her tough time, and the actress said:

"When someone came to support me. He did that then; and even today, he does not hurt me. When my father died, he was there like a son. That is something I can never forget. He was destined to perform the last rites and light the funeral pyre of my father like a son-in-law. Later, as we moved forward, we realised it (the relationship) wouldn’t work out. Thus, we parted ways, and that was a decision we took together.”

Amrutha Suresh also reflected on her relationship with Gopi Sunder and revealed that music had brought them together. They both wanted their relationship to work out, and Amrutha had also maintained a good bond with Gopi Sunder's family. The singer revealed that the emotions she had for him were always genuine, and remembering his mother said:

"Back then, I used to refer to his mother as ‘my mother.’ It was my genuine emotion, and it remains so. Both he and I wanted this relationship to work out well. This was a decision I made after many years. Both of us wanted it to be successful; otherwise, we wouldn’t have posted about it."
