Andy Byron, the former CEO of Astronomer, found himself in deep neck controversy after he, along with Kristin Cabot, was caught on the Kiss Cam while hugging each other. Such a clip during the Coldplay concert spread like wildfire, given that Kristin and Andy were already married to their respective partners. The controversy got extended to such a point that Andy and Kristin both resigned from their positions. It was Coldplay's Chris Martin who pointed out the alleged couple, stating either they had an affair, or they are camera-shy.
Days after the 'Kiss Cam' scandal, Astronomer hired Chris Martin's ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, as a temporary spokesperson. This move by the firm received praise due to the marketing strategy. Amid this, a report recently claimed that Andy Byron is considering a legal route. Reportedly, Andy Byron wants to sue Coldplay for emotional distress caused by his viral video with Kristin Cabot.
A source told Page Six that Byron feels this was 'an invasion of privacy'. The source further revealed that Byron didn't give consent to be recorded on the camera, and the public humiliation he had to face. Andy thinks Coldplay made him a meme. The source could be quoted as saying:
"He didn’t consent to being filmed or publicly humiliated. He thinks Coldplay made him a meme."
It's worth mentioning that there's no legal confirmation of Byron suing Coldplay as of now. An attorney told Page Six that if there is a case, it will likely be a defamation lawsuit, primarily for Chris Martin's characterisation of Byron. Another attorney stated that if he were to file a case, then he would have to prove that there was no affair angle between him and Kristin. Another attorney mentioned that even if the lawsuit is filed, it will be to shift the blame, as a concert consisting of 70,000 people and numerous cameras means the expectation of privacy always runs to zero.
On the other hand, Astronomer was again in the news, as they ended up hiring Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin's ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow. She, in a video from the firm, stated that she had been hired on a temporary basis to speak on behalf of 300 people, and to answer some questions regarding the firm, which had been raised over the last few weeks. While this move was labelled as a 'PR strategy', the way Chris' ex-wife collaborated to speak on 'Kiss Cam', it has been praised by the netizens.
