Anil Kapoor Said 'No' To Aditya Dhar's Offer In 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', Actor Says 'It's My Loss'

Aditya Dhar has been making waves with his film, Dhurandhar, which was released on December 5, 2025. The sequel to the movie, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is all set to be released on March 19, 2026, with a paid preview available on March 18, 2026.

The excitement has been up for the movie's sequel, even more than the first part, given Aditya Dhar ended up doing wonders, and so did the cast of the movie. The film features some of the biggest Bollywood stars, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R. Madhavan, among others. Now, another Bollywood biggie, Anil Kapoor, said that he was also offered a role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, but he said 'no', which now feels like a personal loss to him.

Anil Kapoor was offered a role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, but he said 'no'

Anil Kapoor recently sat for an interview with India Today, wherein he called Dhurandhar a fantastic film. The actor revealed that he was offered a cameo role by Aditya Dhar in the movie. However, Anil said 'no' to the role, as he had previous commitments. He shared that Aditya reached out to him for a small cameo role in the movie, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, but he said to the director that he would love to join the cast, but wouldn't be able to do the same because he had already said 'yes' to another project. Anil called this his 'loss'. Anil could be quoted as saying:

"Yes, Aditya came to me for Dhurandhar 2. He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film. But the reason I am what I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. That’s very important--only talent cannot make you what you are. At that time, I had already committed those dates to another filmmaker. I told Aditya, ‘I would have loved to do this cameo, but I’m already committed.’ He is releasing the film now, and it’s a fantastic film. It’s my loss, but it’s okay."

In the same interview, Anil Kapoor said that it could happen to anyone, and if he had said 'yes' to Aditya's offer, cancelling the other offer, then it would have been complete unprofessionalism. Anil remained hopeful that he will work with Aditya Dhar in the future. For the unversed, Dhurandhar is the second film of Aditya Dhar wearing the director's hat after the film, URI: The Surgical Strike, and there is no denying the fact that with his second project, the director is already ruling the industry. Anil Kapoor could be quoted as saying:

"At least I know in the back of my mind that it can happen to him as well — there could be another filmmaker who has just delivered a big blockbuster and offers me something when I’m already committed to Aditya. If I then go and do that film and cancel his dates, that would be completely unprofessional. So yes, he did offer me the role, and hopefully we will work together in the future."

More about Aditya Dhar's movie, Dhurandhar: The Revenge

Dhurandhar is a spy-thriller and possibly a part of Aditya Dhar's spy universe, as it seemingly has a connection to URI: The Surgical Strike. The sequel's plot has been kept under wraps, and only a few glimpses filled with minute details and connections were shown in the trailer. As it seems, Jaskirat Singh Rangi's journey will be shown in the movie, along with his way to end up as 'Hamza', and taking revenge.

In Part 1, 'Hamza' killed 'Rehman Dakait', and thus, the first question that emerges is who will rule Lyari? In the trailer, we could see some classic action scenes as 'Hamza' is out on a mission of taking revenge and finding his next target, 'Bade Sahab', whose identity has been kept a secret. Earlier, speculations were rife that the role of 'Bade Sahab' would be played by Emraan Hashmi. However, there is no such confirmation about the same buzz just yet. Well, it was also stated that the movie was made on a budget of Rs. 0, since it was already completed during Part 1. The movie already had streaming rights from Jio Hotstar for Rs. 150 crore.
