Dharmendra, Bollywood’s 'He-Man', passed away at the age of 89 on November 24, 2025. He has contributed a lot to the Hindi film industry and continued entertaining the audience till the last day. Once in an interview, Dharmendra expressed his wish to continue working till his last breath. In a recent conversation, filmmaker, Anil Sharma shared details about his last meeting with the veteran actor.
In a recent interview with Hussain Zaid on his YouTube channel, Bollywood filmmaker, Anil Sharma recalled his last conversation with legendary actor, Dharmendra. It is noteworthy to mention that Anil and Dharmendra had collaborated on many projects, including Apne, Hukumat and more. According to the filmmaker, the veteran actor urged him to write an amazing role for him. Dharmendra called the camera his love and shared how much he loved acting with Anil in their last meeting. Anil was quoted as saying:
"He told me, 'Yaar Anil beta, mere liye ek bahut kamaal ka role likh. Mujhe kuch karna hai abhi. Camera meri mehbooba hai, woh mujhe bula rahi hai. Mujhe jaana hai uske paas. Kuch kar abhi. Koi achha role likh.'"

Anil mentioned that Dharmendra told him to write an amazing role for him almost three times. Following his request, the filmmaker also promised him that he would surely write something for him. However, his death was indeed shocking to the Apne director. Anil added that the veteran actor always considered cinema as his passion and never looked at it like a business. Anil was quoted as saying:
"Dharmendra ji told me this three times. I promised him that I would write a role for him. I didn’t know that he would pass away just a few months later. This was my last meeting with him. I thought: he’s about to turn 90, and look at his zeal. He still loved cinema so much — it was never business for him; it was his passion."

Dharmendra was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital when he complained of breathlessness. He stayed there for a few days and returned home. According to his family’s statement, the actor was recovering at home. However, he left for the heavenly abode on November 24, 2025. He is survived by two wives, Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini and six children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijayta, Ajeeta Deol, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

The two families paid respects to the veteran actor separately. While Sunny and Bobby Deol hosted a prayer meet with their mother, Prakash Kaur, Hema Malini held a Gita Path and Bhajan for her late husband, Dharmendra. The prayer meet hosted by the Deol brothers was named 'Celebration of Life'. Many Bollywood celebrities attended the event, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sidharth Malhotra, Abhay Deol, Aryan Khan, while Sunita Ahuja and her son, Yashvardhan, and actress Madhoo attended the prayer meet hosted by Hema Malini.
