Ameesha Patel is one of the most stunning actresses in Bollywood. The diva made her acting debut with the film, Kaho Naa ..Pyaar Hai opposite Hrithik Roshan. Later, she worked on popular films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Race 2, Humraaz, Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage, Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai, and many more. However, it was her role as 'Sakeena' in the film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha that made her an overnight sensation. And Ameesha created the same magic when she made a comeback on the silver screen with Gadar 2.
In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Anil Sharma opened up about the casting of the film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Talking about the same, the filmmaker revealed that he approached several actresses for the film, but they declined the offer because of their own respective reasons. Later, Anil added that he had to cast Ameesha, who had the desired look for the role of 'Sakeena', but she needed a lot of work on her acting skills.

Further, in the same conversation, Anil added that he was apprehensive before casting Ameesha and whether she would understand a woman from 1947. Mentioning that she was raw and he was not sure if she would put in the effort required for the role, Anil said that Ameesha is one of the most hard-working students. Elaborating more on it, he said:
"She's studied in Boston, she grew up in South Mumbai, she used to travel in a Mercedes and wear solitaires, how would she understand a woman from 1947? She wasn't a bad actor, she was just raw, and she needed work. I didn't know if she would be willing to put in the hours, but she's the most hard-working, beautiful student."
Anil Sharma went on to reveal a funny incident from the sets of Gadar. Talking about the same, the director mentioned that she would smack Ameesha on the back whenever she walked with her head high. Revealing the reason behind the same, Anil said that women of that period used a slouched posture. In his words:
"She would rehearse every day for six months, five hours a day, going over every dialogue and scene hundreds of times. She used to walk with her head held high and I would smack her on the back, because women of that era had a slouched posture. Their mothers would also smack them if they didn't walk in a demure manner."
