Domestic violence is not something that only women face in marriages. There are men, too, who are emotionally and mentally tortured in marriages, and they so reach a point of frustration that they feel like ending their lives. Remember the Atul Subhash suicide case? A similar incident of when a man named Ankit Aswani made a video where he was brutally being thrashed by his wife, Jyoti Verma at their home. He recorded the entire alleged incident, asked his mom for help and also threatened his wife that he would die by suicide if he kept harassing her. The incident took place at Satna city in Madhya Pradesh.
The woman named Jyoti allegedly locked and thrashed her husband in MP's Satna. Ankit Aswani, according to a report by NDTV, claimed that his wife regularly beat him and demanded Rs. 10 lakh. Ankit claimed that his wife, Jyoti Verma, was continuously demanding money after his father's demise. He made a video from his house where he and his wife were seen having a fight in the house. Jyoti was then seen locking the door, putting latch while the man pleaded to go out of the house. Jyoti was then seen grabbing Ankit by his neck and slapping him. He filmed the video where he said:
"Mujhe tumse bahut dar lagta hai. Mujhe jane doh. Joh kaam hai mujhe batao. Dekhiye meko maar rahi hai. Live chal raha hai. Mummuy bachao. Maar dal meko. Mei jaake aatma hatya kar dunga. Darwaza khol."
As soon as the video went viral on Reddit, one user wrote, "Ab kya hai aadmi haath uthayega to gharelu hinsa me fans jayega. But mahila haanth uthayegi to wo bichari pareshaan h." Another commented, "Even with video evidence proving his innocence, if the husband retaliates, he will still be arrested under Section 498A. What legal recourse does he have? The law remains deliberately ineffective, offering no protection to male victims of domestic violence—an intentional oversight. Welcome to the Indian legal system." One user also wrote, "Nice idea brother but according to supreme court wife beating is prashad and if she is doing then also you need to pay alimony not matter what."

The video that went viral of Ankit was distressing as it showed an alleged assault on the man. During an interview with NDTV, earlier, Ankit claimed that he and Jyoti got married in 2017 and were together happily married for like 7 years. During the eight year when Ankit lost his dad, he claimed that Jyoti started asking for Rs. 10 lakh. He told the publication in the interview:
"Mujhe Rs. 10 lakh sde doh warna tumhe jhoota case mei phasa dungi. Ussi ke antargat maine video banana shuru kia. Maar peet karti hai. Mei Thane mei aaya aur vahi video Instagram par post kia hua hai. Pitaji ke death ke baad hi yeh sab kadam uthaye hai. Mujhe Rs. 10 lakh sde doh warna tumhe aur tumhare parivar ko phasa dungi. Mere khilaf shikayat karti hai ki maine maara. Jabki aisa kuch nai hai aur maine CCTV cameras bhi ghar mei rakhe hai."
