Famous influencer, Ankita Sahigal, is famous for her funny Instagram reels. Her concept is unique and leaves the viewer laughing out loud with the projection of real-life characters. One such reel content which went viral was of 'Dream bahu', wherein she portrayed the character of an Indian daughter-in-law, who is a fan of her mother-in-law, and does everything that she says. Those reels have over 3 lakh likes. However, Ankita was left heartbroken when she saw her reel being copied as it is in a Punjabi movie. But instead of staying silent, she lashed out at the producer and scriptwriter for copying her content.
On June 19, 2025, Ankita took to her Instagram stories, and expressed her state of mind when she saw a Punjabi movie, Ni Main Saas Kuttni 2, which was released last year in June. Tagging the producer, Mohit Banwait, Ankita lashed out at her emotions. In the first IG story, she shared a scene from the film, which was copied from her reel. Atop it, she wrote:
"What the hell? Copied my reel in a movie? Like really?"
Followed by another IG story, wherein she was heard saying that she doesn't know the writer of the movie, but he is definitely a thief. She tagged the director and stated that they should give her the due credit, as it has not been done. She said:
"I mean I really don't know iska writer kon chorr, but director ke baare mein mai ne padha and I am going to tag him. And please guys tell him to give me the due credit and whatever as this is not done, ap as it is meri reel toh nai daal sakte na. Bhai kuch toh creative karo life mein. What the hell."
In another story, she penned a note calling out the producer, who is also a writer, for copying her entire reel for their film, without her permission, credits or money. She further revealed the name of the film. She also revealed that the director had texted her in 2023, but never took permission to copy her work.
Mohit Banwait immediately responded to Ankita's claims and stated that he had texted her but hadn't received an answer. He further added that he took inspiration from her reel, and it is not called copying. Mohit stated that his film was a typical 'saas-bahu' drama and he had just adapted the style. However, he further claimed that the content shared on social media is not 'exclusive' and no one has the right to it

She even asked for lawyers to ping her as she would be taking the matter to the court of justice. She stated that making mistakes is one thing but being shameless is another.
