It was love at first sight for Anne Hathaway, who met Adam Shulman through some common friends. The duo crossed paths in 2008 at the Palm Springs Film Festival, and Anne knew he was the one for her. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Anee spoke about her first meeting with Adam and said:

“I’m going to marry that man. I knew from the second I met him that he was the love of my life.”

Why didn’t Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman date right away?

Despite being smitten with each other, Adam and Anne took time to date. They became friends first, then started dating. She once revealed the reason behind it, saying that both of them thought the other person was dating someone. Anne also stated that she never wanted to be with that girl, who broke the relationship.

Another reason for the delayed dating was Anne’s trust issues. Before meeting Adam, the actress ended a very high-profile public relationship with Raffaello Folliero. After four years of their marriage, Adam and Anne welcomed their first child, Jonathan. The duo struggled with fertility and conception and welcomed their second son, Jack, in 2019. Anne has been open about her fertility issues and once penned:

“For everyone going through the infertility and conception journey, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”

Despite being very private, Anne once spoke about her husband, Adam and his influence on him. She revealed that Adam had completely changed her. In her words:

“I’m really lucky, I’m in a happy marriage. I feel like he’s my home. I’m a different human than I was then. I think the accepted narrative now is that we, as women, don’t need anybody. But I need my husband. His unique and specific love has changed me. He walks into a room, and I light up. I can’t help it.”
