The untimely death of travel influencer, Anunay Sood has left the YouTube community mourning. For the unversed, the vlogger passed away on November 6, 2025. He was just 32 when he left for the heavenly abode. His family and friends issued an official statement confirming the disheartening news to the world. But do you know that Anunay had a close bond with Apoorva Mukhija, a.k.a. The Rebel Kid? Yes, you read it right. The two influencers were an inseparable duo and enjoyed each other’s company the most. 

However, the final nail in the coffin seemed to come in August 2025. For the uninitiated, earlier this year, in February 2025, Apoorva Mukhija a.k.a The Rebel Kid faced an extreme backlash for making a vulgar remark on Samay Raina’s show, India Got Latent (IGL). Recently, the influencer also appeared on Netflix's The Traitors. The show was hosted by Bollywood filmmaker, Karan Johar. Anunay Sood and Apoorva Mukhija, widely known as The Rebel Kid, shared a close bond, and their enduring friendship was adored by their fans. The duo often collaborated on reels and vlogs, creating lively travel content. From the Bali trip to Gujarat’s Garba nights, their natural chemistry and lighthearted humour were the USP of their content.

However, it was their short video titled 'That one couple who refuses to admit that they are a couple' that went viral, and sparked dating rumours. But later, the duo dismissed the rumours and shared that they are close friends. For those unaware, Apoorva dated Utsav Dahiya, while Anunay Sood dated Shivani Parihar. It is worth noting that Anunay and Apoorva’s bond stood out as a genuine, heartwarming friendship in the YouTube creator community.

According to a report by India Times, cracks in their inseparable bond began after a promotional cruise trip. For those unaware, the duo were reportedly accused of misbehaviour, being noisy late at night, smoking in restricted zones, and disrespecting fellow passengers. However, things turned worse, when Anunay posted a vlog from the trip where he was seen playfully taking items from a café, which viewers criticised as 'stealing for humour.' 

After facing backlash, he later deleted the video but didn’t apologise, and called the content 'perfectly fine.' Following this incident, eagle-eyed fans noticed a change: Anunay and Apoorva, the inseparable duo, stopped tagging each other and also unfollowed each other on social media. The final break in their friendship reportedly came in August 2025, when Apoorva’s ex-boyfriend, Utsav Dahiya, released the song, Cute Little Red Flags, in which he accused the influencer of cheating and manipulative behaviour. Anunay’s like on Utsav’s post seemed to confirm their alleged fallout.

Anunay Sood's sudden death was confirmed by his family and friends

On November 6, 2025, Anunay’s family and friends confirmed the tragic news. Taking to Anunay’s Instagram handle, they issued an official statement. They have requested privacy at the moment. The note can be read as:

"It is with deep sadness that we share the news of our beloved Anunay Sood’s passing. We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy as we navigate this difficult time. We humbly request that you avoid gathering crowds near personal property. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. May his soul rest in peace. The family and friends of Anunay Sood."
