Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher is one of the most evergreen couples of Bollywood, and clearly, they complete each other in every sense. Their love story had started with friendship, just like we all have learnt from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai that pyaar dosti hai.
We all face ups and downs in a relationship, likewise, Anupam and Kirron Kher had also gone through a rough patch. In their 36 years of marital life, there were 3 to 4 years when they had separated their ways only to find comfort in each other and mend their ways back to be together forever.

Before becoming each other's meaning of life, Anupam and Kirron were married to different persons. Anupam Kher was in an arranged marriage with someone else, and Kirron Kher was previously married to a Mumbai-based businessman, Gautam Berry, for five years (1980-85). They had a son together, Sikandar. However, destiny had played Cupid's role and had struck the two with a love arrow when they had met in Chandigarh. Anupam and Kirron both were in the Chandigarh's Theatre Group.
Often, Anupam Kher takes to his Instagram handle and shares throwback pictures with his wife, Kirron Kher from their theatre days. On the occasion of World Theatre Day, he had shared this photo with his wife. It's taken from one of their plays. Check it out:
Anupam and Kirron had hit it off very easily and had become good friends. When things had turned out ugly in their own personal lives, they had become each other's confidants. And unknowingly, they had fallen in love with each other. Anupam Kher had expressed his feelings first, recalling the proposal, Kirron Kher had shared in an old interview with a leading daily:
"He came and knocked on my door, and said "I want to talk to you." He then said "I think I have fallen in love with you." And suddenly there was this immense, intense change, the chemistry exploded. I got a divorce and married him. He had nothing then."

The couple had an inter-faith marriage as Kirron Kher comes from a Punjabi family, while Anupam Kher is from a Kashmiri pandit family. There were some differences, but the madly-in-love couple had sorted them out for their betterment. After giving divorce to their respective partners, the couple had tied the knot in 1985. It was a private wedding ceremony that had taken place in Gurgaon, and all their common theatre friends were present there.
On Anupam and Kirron Kher's 35th marriage anniversary, Bollywood actor, Anupam had taken to his IG handle and had shared a romantic throwback picture and had penned a lovely caption along with it. The note could be read as:
"Dearest #Kirron!! Happy 35th Anniversary. We have known each other for almost 45years. It is almost a life time. We have grown up together as two strong individuals. We don't get to spend much time together. You are busy being a parliamentarian and I am busy being an actor. But I am and will always be there for you. You are a great girl. Stay safe. Love and prayers always!"

It was on April 1, 2021, when Anupam Kher and Sikandar Kher had confirmed the reports of Kirron Kher's diagnosis with blood cancer. During the course of the tough phase, Anupam had been her constant support. Sharing an update about her health, Anupam and Sikandar had written in a note:
"Just so that rumours don't get the better of a situation Sikandar and I would like to inform everyone that Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and we are sure she will come out of this stronger than before. We are very blessed that she is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors. She's always been a fighter and takes things head on. She's all heart and that's why she has so many people that love her. So keep sending your love to her in your prayers and in your heart. She is well on her way to recovery and we thank everyone for their support and love. Anupam and Sikander."
Kirron and Anupam Kher have always been each other's pillar of support whenever they needed it. When Anupam's book, Lessons Life Taught Me Unknowingly had come out, Kirron had taken to her IG handle and had shared a post. Dedicating to her husband, she had written:
"Finally read your book Lessons Life Taught Me Unknowingly, @anupampkher .Loved it. Lived it with you, Heard it in stories you narrated. Funny and moving at the same time. So real and unapologetic. More strength to you my husband. I admire your spirit and loved the chapter on me."
