Anupam Kher is a versatile actor in Bollywood and is known for his unique roles in various films. Over the years, the actor has made a name for himself in showbiz. Currently, he is leading the headlines for his film, The Kashmir Files and is riding high with the success and controversy related to the film.
Anupam Kher has been living in Mumbai in a rented apartment for years, and despite being a successful actor in Bollywood, he never bought any property. In a leading daily, the actor opened up about the same.

In an interview with a leading daily, Anupam Kher revealed that he has been living in a rented apartment. He had decided this 4-5 years back that he didn't want to own any property. However, the only property that he had ever purchased was for his mother, Dulari Kher, as she had dreamt of owning a house in Shimla. He said:
"I don't even own an apartment in Mumbai. I live in a rented apartment. I decided 4-5 years back that I don't want to own property. The only property I bought four years ago was a house for my mother in Shimla."
Anupam Kher always wanted to give his mother 'something exceptional' as she had spent all her life in a rented accommodation in Shimla. In the suburb of Shoghi, Anupam's mother liked a small house that had an entrance from outside along with 9 bedrooms. He had asked the property owner whether he was willing to sell the entire property. And, when his mother had remarked that the rooms were nice, he had bought it for her.

However, Dulari's reaction wasn't nice when she had found out about the same, and the actor had got scolded by his mother. Recalling his mother's reaction, Anupam said:
“‘Aap ka dimag kharab hai! Mujhe nahi chahiye itna bada ghar…’ she scolded me.”
In an interview with The Humans Of Bombay, Anupam Kher had talked about his mother, Dulari's impact and massive role in his immense success in Bollywood. The actor had credited his mother for helping him achieve his dream of becoming an actor. The actor had also revealed what he had with him when he had come to Bombay to become an actor back on June 3, 1981. Anupam had said:
"Her values were all I had when I came to Mumbai to be an actor with Rs. 37. At times I'd sleep on the platform, but never told her & when Mom fell sick, she didn't tell me we both tried to protect each other."
Well, Anupam Kher proved to be a good son by making a special arrangement for his mother, Dulari Kher.
