Anurag Basu On Kartik Aaryan's 'Aashiqui 3' Not Delayed Due To 'Saiyaara' Fever, 'Both Films..'

There is a lot of anticipation for Anurag Basu's next offering, which stars Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Whether the film is part of the Aashiqui franchise will only be revealed in time. However, after Anurag's success directing Metro...In Dino, he is all set to showcase romance in a never-before-seen style with reportedly titled, Aashiqui 3, which was set for a Diwali 2025 release but will now drop theatrically in 2026. Now, there are theories doing the rounds that Anurag Basu is delaying his movie due to the phenomenal success of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's movie, Saiyaara, which Mohit Suri has directed.

Anurag Basu opens up about whether his film starring Kartik Aaryan, Sreeleela is delayed due to the success of Saiyaara?

There has been gossip circulating in the industry that Kartik and Sreeleela's reported film, Aashiqui 3, is being delayed due to Mohit Suri's Saiyaara's massive success. Now, Anurag sat down for an interview with India Today and shared that Saiyaara was not the reason behind the delay of his movie. He shared that he had known Mohit's script for a pretty long time, and it was not something that surprised him. In his words:

“Given that both films feature performers as lead characters, comparisons were expected. But the two stories are entirely different. Kartik was tied up with Karan Johar’s film (Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri), and I was busy with Metro... In Dino promotions. We’ll resume shooting soon and are aiming to wrap it up at the earliest."

Well, Anurag did confirm that due to a difference in scheduling of the movies, the release of Aashiqui 3 has been delayed. He stated that it was not a matter of creative overlaps. The theme of love, separation, and unconditional devotion is also the slice that Basu uses in his movies. A report by Times Now Digital shared that Anurag did not want to overlap, and then everyone would compare Kartik's movie to Saiyaara. Reports further state that some scenes have been rewritten, and reshooting of the same is being planned.

There has not been much said about the untitled movie, but it seems like the Kartik-Sreeleela movie will be a part of the Aashiqui franchise. Reportedly, a legal battle is going on with Vishesh Films, and T-Series has not yet obtained the rights to use Aashiqui in their movie title. Although it looks like the movie will be a revamped version of the Aashiqui title song in the new movie. Fans are eager to see the chemistry of Kartik and Sreeleela, and there were swirling reports doing the rounds that both of them are dating. However, they have not gone public with their relationship.

Although Anurag's team is doing their best to create a timeless love story, which is all set for the release in early 2026.
