In his latest interview, critically-acclaimed filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap opened up about his guilt of not meeting Sushant Singh Rajput to collaborate on a film weeks before his demise.

The critically-acclaimed filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap is one of the biggest names in Bollywood. With films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Black Friday, No Smoking, Dev.D, Gulaal, That Girl in Yellow Boots, Mukkabaaz, Manmarziyaan, and the web series, Sacred Games, he has already proved the mettle of his exceptional filmmaking skills and knowledge. Time and again, we have seen so many renowned actors admitting their admiration for the director and sharing that they would love to collaborate with him.

Anurag Kashyap reveals Sushant Singh Rajput wanted to work with him, but he refused to meet him

However, not everyone is aware of the fact that the late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput was one of those actors, who wanted to work with Anurag Kashyap. In an interview with Showsha, Anurag opened up about the same and shared how Sushant had tried to reach him, but he ignored him. Anurag explained that there was a time in the past when Sushant had ghosted him, which was why he had decided not to meet him.

Further in the interview, Anurag Kashyap revealed that Sushant Singh Rajput had died three weeks after making attempts to meet him. It was a heartbreaking moment for the filmmaker, who realised the unpredictability of life in the most gruesome manner. Anurag Kashyap added that his little grudge against Sushant Singh Rajput had made him angry, and for that mistake, he has a lot of guilt in his heart. He said:

"And the day the unfortunate incident happened of SSR, I felt so bad. Three weeks prior to that somebody was trying to reach out because he wanted to talk, and I was like, ‘No, he ghosted me, I don’t want to talk’. You get pangs of guilt."

When Anurag Kashyap called Sushant Singh Rajput a 'problematic person'

For the unversed, on September 9, 2020, Anurag Kashyap shared a screenshot of his conversation with Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager in which he could be seen calling the late actor a ‘problematic person’. The filmmaker took to his Twitter handle and shared the picture along with a few words in the tweet, in which he apologised to people for sharing this and admitted that he didn’t want to work with him because of his own reasons, which he couldn’t share with everyone. His tweet could be read as:

"I am sorry that I am doing this but this chat is from three weeks before he passed away. Chat with his manager on May 22.. havent don’t it so far but feel the need now .. yes I didn’t want to work with him for my own reasons."

As soon as Anurag Kashyap shared the screengrab of the same on his Twitter handle, he received a lot of backlash from Sushant Singh Rajput’s fans. While some people trolled the filmmaker for being jealous of Sushant’s technical and acting skills, many trolled Anurag for his bad behaviour. Some also accused Anurag of being too arrogant to Sushant as all he wanted was to work with him. Once again, after the release of his latest interview in which he talked about the same, the filmmaker is getting a lot of backlashes as it salted the wounds of Sushant’s die-hard fans.

On the professional front, Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film, Almost Love, is reportedly to be released on February 3, 2023.
