Anurag Kashyap is one of the most talented directors in the Hindi film industry. His films have not only entertained the Indian masses but also received recognition on global platforms such as at Cannes Film Festival. In his personal life, he was initially married to his ex-wife, Aarti Bajaj. Together, they have a daughter named Aaliyah Kashyap. After Anurag and Aarti's marriage ended, he later got married to the actress, Kalki Koechlin, but they also soon parted ways.
Now, in a candid conversation with Pinkvilla while giving his home tour, Anurag Kashyap revealed why he broke his daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap's room in his house, and many other anecdotes. Anurag is indeed a lovely father to Aaliyah, and proof of their bond is often found. Thus, reminiscing that the father-daughter duo used to play together in the room, the filmmaker mentioned that he had to break the door of the room for a specific reason.

In the same conversation, Anurag mentioned that he broke the door of the room in order to escape the memories that were connected to the place. Walking on the path of nostalgia, he remarked that since he can't go back to those memories, thus, he doesn't want to get stuck with the nostalgia. Talking about the same, he elaborated:
"My favorite memory in the house is when my daughter and I, when she was little, used to make films on the camera or iPad. She used to direct me, and I used to act, and we used to do everything. That was my favorite memory. This also became the room where my daughter used to stay, which I broke because of a lot of nostalgia. I don't want to think about things that I don't have anymore."

Earlier, Anurag Kashyap graced one of the episodes of Aaliyah Kashyap's podcast, Young, Dumb, and Anxious. During one of the segments of the same podcast, the doting daughter confronted her father, Anurag, for cancelling their planned recording a few weeks ago. To this, Anurag explained that he'd been working hard to cover the expenses for her wedding, which was why he had to cancel coming to the previous episode of his daughter's podcast. Further, Anurag revealed that the wedding budget is as large as one of his film budgets.

For the unversed, Aaliyah Kashyap got engaged to the love of his life, Shane Gregoire on May 20, 2023, in Bali. Following this, they held a grand engagement ceremony in Mumbai. In an old interview with Pinkvilla, Anurag opened up about his daughter, Aaliyah's engagement, and mentioned that he was glad that he was invited to the ceremony. Anurag also stated that he got to know about Shane's proposal through social media. In his words:
"I am so glad I was invited. I got to know (about the proposal) through social media first, but this time I was there - I was invited. My little one grew up too fast, she has a mind of her own. She is pretty much like her mother and father, we are both stubborn people, I think she is also as stubborn and has a mind of her own. She has her own thing. So it's not like that, it was expected. I am very happy, I love Shane. He is an amazing boy. He is probably much more sensible and mature than I am."
