Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are, undoubtedly, one of the bests we have in the entertainment and cricket industry. With par-excellence skills in their respective fields, Virat and Anushka are an inspiration, not just on-screen and on-field, but in real life too. Anushka and Virat are animal lovers and have always been at the forefront of animal rights and protection. It is an inspiration to see Anushka and Virat going an extra mile, using their power not just to spread awareness but actually doing it themselves to make a difference and make the world a better place to live, not just for humans but for entire living beings.

Back in 2018, Anushka Sharma, on her birthday, had decided to build an animal shelter in Mumbai, where the abandoned and the dejected animals would be protected, loved, and nurtured. An excerpt of Anushka's note could be read as "On my birthday, in my own little way, I'm starting something that will give our fellow living beings equal rights, equal care and equal love. I'm building an animal shelter just outside Mumbai - a home for those animals that are stranded, left to fend for themselves, have to brave harsh surroundings. A home where they will be cared for, loved, protected and nurtured."
To mark World Stray Animals Day 2021, Virat Kohli took a step towards animal welfare as his foundation collaborated with an NGO and another healthcare company to set up animal welfare shelters for strays in Mumbai. Crediting Anushka Sharma for inspiring him, Virat tweeted, " To ensure health & support to stray animals, @vkfofficial has now taken its first step towards animal welfare in collaboration with Vivaldis. I want to thank my wife @AnushkaSharma for inspiring me by her passion towards animals & for being a constant advocate for animal rights." Virat announced the same on his Instagram as well and his inspiration, Anushka commented with an array of heart emojis on his post.
When Anushka Sharma posed for the Vogue's cover in December 2020, in their interview, she had spoken about directing a lot of her energy in preparing the animal-themed nursery and setting up the home for her then-to-be born baby. A self-confessed planner, Anushka had said, “I just want to be prepared. Everything is slower because of the times we are living in and I don’t like to rush things. This time in my life, even more so. I want the nursery to be very calm. It’s the place where you spend the most amount of time, where you are bonding with your baby, so it has to be peaceful.”

Much like Anushka Sharma’s approach to life and parenthood, the theme of the nursery is one that is deeply thoughtful, reflecting important facets of her and Virat Kohli’s world. Anushka had said, “I don’t believe that boys have to wear blue and girls pink. The nursery has all colours. Both Virat and I love animals and we want our baby to have that bond too. They are a big part of our lives and we really believe they can teach kindness and compassion to children.”
Back in August 2020, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had posted a no-filter fun-filled video, in which they asked questions about their professional and personal lives to each other to see who knows whom better. When Anushka had asked Virat, "One thing that makes me happy" he retorted, "Being around animals." To which, she corrected him and said, "Yes. But it's you. You make me happy." And it left both of them laughing hard on how can Virat get that one wrong! Anushka had captioned the video as "#TakeABreak @virat.kohli and I took a break with @instagram A 3 Part quiz, lots of laughter and 2 super competitive people... we were suuuuper chill and played by the rules (or not) Watch to find out who won! #TakeABreak."
