Apara Mehta On Her Reunion With Smriti In 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2' Says 'It Will Happen..'

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has been grabbing the headlines with the news of its return to the TV screens with a brand new season after almost two decades. The fans have been over the moon about the reboot, and so has been the OG cast of the show. As the show plans to bring back the OG characters, it was Apara Mehta who has now addressed her return to the show.

The announcement of the second season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has left the fans elated. The show, which is in the works, will soon be aired, and the fans cannot wait. However, the news of the show's return has also given wind to Smriti Irani's reunion with Apara Mehta in the hit show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. While the former played the iconic role of 'Tulsi', Apara essayed the role of her mother-in-law, 'Savita', in the show.  

Apara has now addressed the news of their reunion in a conversation with Vickey Lalwani and revealed that she is not sure if her character will return. For the unversed, season one of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi marked the death of 'Savita'. However, she is in contact with the makers, but there are no updates yet. Apara expressed that she would be extremely disappointed if she did not get to be a part of the reboot, as it was her show. She was quoted as saying:

"I am not sure because Savita’s character had died. As of now, we are talking about it, but I don’t know how it will happen and what will happen. I can’t talk about it much."

In the same conversation, Apara Mehta mentioned that she is excited about the return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She revealed that since the show will be completing its 25 years, it was the right way to honour it. She further added how the show was released on July 3, 2000, and so was Kaun Banega Crorepati, and both went on to create history. She was quoted as saying:

"I am so happy that it is happening, the second season. This is also 25 years of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. This is the right tribute one can give to a show like this. It changed the history of Indian television. July 3, 2000, when we went on-air. KBC and Kyuki went on-air on the same day. It created history."

Apara Mehta also addressed how she has worked in some good shows over the years. She revealed that she has been in 35 daily soaps in her career, including Rupali Ganguly's Anupamaa. However, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi remains a special one for her as she knows how big it was. She was quoted as saying:

"I have done some very good work after that show also, 35 daily soaps. Last, I was doing Anupamaa. Yet, I am known for Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. What a big show it was, it still is. Even the second season will be this big."

Smriti Irani will be seen as 'Tulsi Virani', which earned her a household name. Amar Upadhyay will also return as 'Mihir Virani', reigniting one of Indian television’s most famous on-screen couples. Smriti reportedly signed the contract for the project recently and has already begun filming in the city with Z+ security. Shobha and Ekta Kapoor produced the series under the brand of Balaji Telefilms.
