AR Rahman Helps Ex-Wife, Saira During Her Emergency Surgery, She Says, 'Truly Grateful...'

AR Rahman and Saira Banu left everyone in dismay with their divorce announcement in 2024. There were a lot of emotions, and people soon started speculating about the reason for their separation. Amidst it, there were a lot of people thought that Saira was in an unhappy marriage, but they later dismissed the same. Now, AR Rahman came forward to help his ex-wife, Saira Banu get hospitalised.

Recently, AR Rahman's former wife, Saira, was hospitalised in Los Angeles following a medical emergency. However, details of her ailment are not yet known, but she had to undergo surgery. On February 20, 2025, Saira issued a statement by her lawyer, wherein she hoped for a speedy recovery. The statement read:

"On behalf of our client, Mrs. Saira Rahman, Vandana Shah and Associates issues the following statement regarding her current health condition. A few days ago Mrs. Saira Rahman was hospitalised due to a medical emergency, and underwent surgery. During this challenging time, her sole focus is on a speedy recovery."

In the statement, Saira also expressed thanks to her ex-husband, AR Rahman for his unwavering support for her during the tough time. However, she further requested privacy from media during her healing journey. The statement added:

"She deeply appreciates the concern and support from those around her and requests prayers for her well-being from her numerous well-wishers and supporters. Mrs Saira Rahman would also like to express her heartfelt gratitude to her friends from Los Angeles, Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, as well as Vandana Shah and Mr. Rahman, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. She is truly grateful for their kindness and encouragement. God bless Mrs. Saira Rahman also seeks privacy during this period and expresses gratitude for the understanding from her supporters and well-wishers."

AR Rahman left everyone shocked by creating a hashtag for his divorce 

We all will agree that divorce is a start to a new beginning, but when there are adult children involved, things become a bit uncomfortable. On top of it, AR Rahman while announcing his separation created a hashtag 'ARSairaBreakup' that left everyone in shock. 

People started putting dirt on AR Rahman for the usage of 'ARSairaBreakup' hashtag in his divorce announcement. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Vandana Shah, his divorce lawyer, Vandana Shah defended him. Regarding AR Rahman being trolled for using a hashtag, she added that she later realised the reason for the hashtag. However, they used it as people stopped using semicolan. She added that it holds no importance and was quoted as saying:

"I’ve noticed that there’s a reason a hashtag is known as a hashtag. When you look at the larger scheme of things in grammar, there’s always a comma, a full stop, and even a semicolon. Though that feels like an afterthought these days. Hardly anyone uses the term ‘semicolon’ anymore, and very few people give it much importance. Similarly, a hashtag is what it is—a hashtag—and it holds no real significance. I believe it should be treated with the same kind of disregard. As if to say you’re just a hashtag, set aside. Over the last couple of days, this sentiment has only been reinforced for me."
