Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor were in a steady relationship for many years before they separated in 2024. It was in October 2024 when the actor attended a Diwali party in Mumbai hosted by Raj Thackeray. Arjun's Singham Again co-stars Tiger Shroff and Ajay Devgn, along with director Rohit Shetty and other celebs, had joined. Arjun's fans screamed Malaika's name, to which he said on the microphone, "Abhi single hoon main, relax. He called me tall and handsome, so you guys thought he was talking about my marriage." Now Malaika has spoken about the situation.
Since Arjun told the world he was single, Malaika had maintained stoic silence. Breaking the ice, Malla has now said she does not want to discuss her personal life with the world as it would attract more scrutiny. In a recent interview with ETimes, she reacted on Arjun's public comment on addressing his singlehood. She said:
"I will never choose a public platform to talk about my personal life. So, whatever Arjun has said is entirely his prerogative."
The former pair, Malaika and Arjun, started dating back in 2018. Reportedly, Arjun was dating Salman's sister, Arpita Khan, and he used to visit Bhaijaan's home earlier. A report by ETimes claimed that it was at Salman's place that Arjun noticed Malaika, who was married to Arbaaz Khan at that time. The Singham Again actor reportedly broke up with Arpita after dating her for 2 years and started dating Malaika in 2018, after she separated from her ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan. Malaika used to motivate the actor a lot and told him to focus on his Bollywood career. They made their relationship official on Instagram in 2019.
From posting mushy pictures on social media to dropping cheesy comments on each other's posts, the duo kept their relationship public. Arjun was often asked if the wedding was on cards.
The rumours of Malaika and Arjun's breakup was doing rounds on the internet since a while. The duo had deleted all their social media posts together. However, Arjun stood by Malaika after her stepdad, Anil Mehta, passed away in 2024. He had died by suicide. Talking of Malaika and Arjun's split a source close to HT had said:
"Malaika and Arjun had a very special relationship and both of them will continue to hold a special place in each others hearts. They have chosen to part ways and will maintain a dignified silence in this matter. They won’t allow anyone to drag and dissect their relationship.”

Earlier, in an interview with Raj Shamani, Arjun spoke about being there for Malaika. He said that if he has formed an emotional bond with somebody, he would always like to believe that he will be there regardless of the good and the bad. If he is invited for the good, he will be there. If he is needed for the bad, he will be there. Arjun further added:
"I’m not somebody who has a lot of friends, I’m not doing this for all and sundry. If that person doesn’t want me there, I’ll maintain a distance, as I have in the past.”
