Arshad Warsi is one of the most-loved actors in the film industry. The exceptionally-talented actor is renowned for both his intense and comic roles in his films. Born on April 19, 1968, in Mumbai, Arshad never let his humble background become a barrier to his dream to become an actor in Bollywood. The actor made his acting debut in the film industry with the film, Tere Mere Sapne, in 1996.
However, Arshad Warsi, no doubt, gained much fame with his role as ‘Circuit’ in the film, Munna Bhai MBBS. Well, talking about some of the best movies of Arshad’s acting career are the likes of the Munna Bhai series, Ishqiya, Golmaal, and Jolly LLB. The actor is also regarded as one of the best comedians in Bollywood and has also showcased his versatility with performances in serious roles too. However, not everyone knows about the fact that before Arshad made his debut in the industry, he struggled a lot and even worked as a dancer and choreographer, not only this, he even did some small roles in films.

For the unversed, Arshad Warsi’s debut film, Tere Mere Sapne was one of the films produced by Amitabh Bachchan’s production house, ABCL. Joy Augustine directed the film, and it was a big project and featured many newcomers like Chandrachur Singh, Priya Gill and Simran. The film turned out to be a massive hit, and Arshad’s performance in the movie caught the attention of many filmmakers. Once in an old interview with Lehren, Arshad talked about how he grabbed his debut role in the film, Tere Mere Sapne.
Recalling the same, Arshad Warsi shared that he was working as a choreographer in the industry back then and also had his own studio by the name, Awesome. The actor further added that one day he organised a dinner party at his home, and Joy Augustine was also among the guests. Although Arshad and Joy have already met before, but they never shared any plans of working together before. However, the next day, Joy called Arshad to his office for a meeting and offered him a major role in his film, Tere Mere Sapne. Recalling the same, he said:
"Joy Augustine was at my house at a dinner party. He had come with one of my friends. I had met him twice before that. He was observing me. He found me a little interesting; he called me up the next day and said, 'I'm directing a film for ABCL would you like to act in it?'"

Further in the same interview, Arshad Warsi continued revealing the story of his debut in the film industry. The actor added that he was never inclined towards acting as he was quite content with his work as a choreographer. However, when a director of Joy Augustine’s stature asked him to audition for a role, he thought of giving it a shot. Hence, he got himself clicked by a friend, and with his amateur photos, he submitted them to the office. The photos were shown to Jaya Bachchan, and she liked Arshad’s portfolio and gave a green flag to Joy Augustine, and the rest is history. He said:
"I had no inclination towards acting. I had never thought of being an actor. I was taken aback by [Joy Augustine]. It was quite a surprise for me. I gave it a shot [and] clicked a few amateurish photographs by a friend. The photographs happened to go to Mrs Bachchan. She saw it, she liked it and said sign this guy."
The Hindi film industry will always be grateful to Jaya Bachchan for signing Arshad Warsi in his debut film and giving a gem of an actor to the industry.
