Aruna Irani Shares Getting No Work After Her Breakup With Mehmood, 'Nobody Was Giving Me..'

Veteran actress, Aruna Irani was head-over-heels in love with Mehmood. Their relationship back in the day was much talked about, but it never culminated in marriage. Mehmood was the one who gave Aruna the wings to her career by giving her a breakthrough. They did have strong feelings for one another, but could never get married. Aruna recently shared how she stopped getting work after her breakup with Mehmood.

Aruna Irani shares that she did not get acting roles after her split with Mehmood

Aruna was one of the most famous actresses of her time and was known for her dancing numbers as well as vamp-like roles. She got a lot of fame with the negative roles she played on the big screen, and her affair with Mehmood, which did not see the light of day, was widely discussed. In a recent interview with Lehren, Aruna shared that it was very difficult for her to get work after her breakup with Mehmood and said:

"The first film after this breakup, there was no work. Nobody was giving me work. Dada Kondke ka Aandhala Marto Dola. Woh kia tha, but I never thought ki mei heroine bannei ke baad yeh gaana kar rahi hu. Woh complex maine kabhi nai rakha. Aur ek Marathi picture mei sirf ek gaana kar rahi thi. Maine kaha niklo."

When Aruna Irani revealed the reason behind why she fell in love with Mehmood

Aruna, in an earlier interview, shared that she was in a relationship with Mehmood, but they had to part ways as he was already married at that time. Aruna revealed that it was dance director, Suresh Bhatt, who had told her to give attention to Mehmood, who could get her work in those times, as she was struggling to get a job. Aruna recollected:

"But even there I kept saying yes and no to Mehmood. Kept rejecting his offers, but he started giving me work even on this. Slowly I developed a soft corner for him. Through him I saw money, fame, name and I thought how long will I fool this man. Then we became friends and then more than friends, but that was all with him."

Aruna further shared that Mehmood had created her career, and then it was ruined as she had crossed all the limits to kind of please him. She came from a very poor family, and then she saw a lot of name, fame, as well as money. Aruna and Mehmood's relationship was a sad one as his family had stopped him from working with her, and hence, he adhered to the same and followed what they told him to do. Post that they did not have any relationship.

When Aruna Irani called Mehmood her guru

Aruna had a lot of opportunities in the Hindi cinema. She had even given Mehmood the name as her Guru when the name of the actress was taken in front of the other moviemakers. Mehmood paid no heed to clarify related to the relationship rumours of him and Aruna. It is also said that Mehmood's wife used to fight a lot with him, and due to his relationship being strained, he cut off from Aruna. He was already married when he fell for the actress who was known for her versatile roles. Aruna once did recollect:

"Vinod Khanna asked Mehmood if I can play his heroine in a film. He asked Mehmood if we both have been married. Mehmood just looked at me and smiled and didn’t say anything. So he made my career also and ruined it also."
