Arvind Trivedi, Who Portrayed Evil 'Raavan' In 'Ramayan' Died At 82, Sunil Lahiri And Others Mourn

The veteran actor, Arvind Trivedi is known for portraying the character of ‘Raavan’ in Ramanand Sagar’s epic show, Ramayan, passed away on the night of October 5, 2021. The news has sent shockwaves around the Indian film industry as he was also a huge name in Gujarati cinema. During his lifetime, the actor had won seven awards from the Government of Gujarat for his incredible acting in several Gujarati films.

Apart from Ramayan, Arvind Trivedi had worked in many iconic shows like Vikram Aur Betaal and Vishwamitra. The veteran actor had acted in over 300 films during his illustrious career. There’s no denying the fact that Arvind Trivedi’s contribution to both Hindi and Gujarati cinema is huge and he will always be remembered for the same, in the decades to come.

In a conversation with ETimes, Arvind Trivedi’s nephew, Kaustubh Trivedi confirmed the reports of his demise and shared the prime cause behind his death at the age of 82. Revealing the same, Kasutubh stated that his uncle was suffering from prolonged illness for some time now. He said, “He was not keeping well for quite some time, but today he suffered a heart attack and that led to multi-organ failure.”

In another interview with ABP News, Kaustabh Trivedi said that Arvind Trivedi wasn’t keeping well for the last 2-3 years and had also been admitted to the hospital on a couple of occasions in recent times. He said, “Uncle was unwell for the past few years. Things only worsened over the past three years. He had to be admitted to the hospital a few times.”

Going further in the interview, Kaustubh Trivedi also surfaced the details about his uncle, Arvind Trivedi’s demise and said that the legendary actor passed away around 9:30 p.m. at his Kandivali residence. He retorted, "He had come back from the hospital only last month. On Tuesday night, he suffered a heart attack around 9:30. He died at his Kandivali residence in Mumbai."

Soon after the tragic news made its way on the internet and news channels, Arvind Trivedi’s co-stars, Sunil Lahiri who portrayed the character of ‘Lord Laxman’ and Dipika Chikhlia who portrayed ‘Goddess Sita’ in the show, Ramayan, mourned his demise. While Sunil Lahiri shared two pictures of Arvind Trivedi and wrote, “Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki Hamare Sabke Pyare Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) Ab Hamare bich Nahin Rahe Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De...I am speechless I lost father figure my guide well-wisher & gentleman” in the caption.

Dipika Chikhlia also took to her IG handle and shared a similar picture shared by Sunil Lahiri and penned a painful note in the caption of her post in which she called Arvind Trivedi a ‘fine human being’. Her note can be read as “My heartfelt condolences to his family …a very fine human being #arvindtrivedi #ravan.”

For the unversed, Arvind Trivedi was also elected as a Member of Parliament in 1991 and was in the office till 1996.
