Aryan Khan is all set to make his directorial debut with a promising and self-aware take on Bollywood. The show was announced on Netflix's Next on Netflix India event held in Mumbai on February 3, 2025. Shah Rukh Khan took centre stage to introduce his son's debut series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The series will mark Aryan's official debut into the world of filmmaking, not as an actor but as a creator, writer, and director, bringing his vision of cinema to the world.
The young blood and fresh talent got a chance on OTT and, with time, became the reason why OTT became an exciting proposition for the audience, especially in India. The outlet has given room to talents in several fields, including writing, filmmaking, acting and much more. Now, Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan, is all set and prepared to make his debut with the OTT platform, Netflix. However, not on-screen but from behind the camera.
While Aryan Khan skipped the announcement event of his debut project, a report by Filmfare stated that their sources had confirmed the show's leads and hinted at why Aryan might have been absent from the event. Their source suggested that the show is going to be led by a fresh pair, Lakshya and Sahher Bambba. Also, commenting on Aryan being a part of the promotions, they stated:
"Lakshya and Sahher Bambba are part of an ensemble cast in Stardom. But Aryan wanted the show’s main leads to be new faces, and that’s why Lakshya and Sahher were selected. Aryan has already made it known to Netflix that he will not promote the show in person. He won’t be conducting any interviews or partaking in promotional activities with the media or influencers."
The news of Aryan Khan not being a part of the promotions soon reached the discussion platform, Reddit and netizens were quick to share their opinion on it. One user wrote, "Good for him, SRK is smart. He will do all the promotion on his behalf." Another user penned, "Good decision." A Redditor showed his appreciation of Aryan's decision and stated:
"I kinda like this. It’s very different and refreshing. In a world where everyone wants their 15 mins of fame, I can appreciate Aryan’s approach. Maybe he wants to focus on his work only. Aryan, please don’t ever cast your sister though."
However, that was not all. Some users called Aryan out for using his privileges to reap the rewards without putting in the effort and said, "Why take the pressure of facing the media when your superstar daddy has got your back to do it on your behalf? The privilege that these star kids have over an outsider is insane!" Another user commented, "Papa ke paas paisa hain toh kya kuch nai ho sakta!!"

Some users even suggested that Aryan didn't want to give an interview because the project was, in reality, the work of a ghost director. A comment stated, "Can't replace the ghost director during live interviews." While another user in a long post stated:
"SRK is really smart, isn't he? Maybe Aryan does want to be Mr India like Aditya Chopra. But not promoting the show means no chance of giving stupid or ignorant statements, especially related to nepotism, which can get him immense mocking and trolling. A clever way to deflect all of that. And it also helps in maintaining his mysterious aura. Nobody can tell you're stupid unless you say something stupid."
What are your thoughts on Aryan Khan's decision to stay away from the promotions?
