Asha and Lata did have professional competition spirits, but at home, they had a lot of affection for one another. When Asha came on Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol’s podcast titled Couple of Things, Asha remembered the deep and unspoken bond they had with one another; despite having their individual music journeys, they had different personalities at home. Asha also shared why she and Didi used to wear white sarees. In her words:

"Didi (Lata Mangeshkar) and I used to wear white sarees all the time. We thought white suited our complexion better. If we wore other colors, we would look darker. Later, I started wearing pink sarees, and didi would give me a side-eye, but I slowly began adding colors with pink."

Asha was very proud of the fact that Lata Didi maintained a professional approach whenever they met in public. Asha revealed that Didi would be very normal at home. She would talk to Asha very softly and formally when we were outside, but at home, they had a different connection. In her words:

"We spoke in Marathi, and our interactions were very natural. However, the moment she stepped outside, she became Lata Mangeshkar, the legend, the icon, and there was a clear shift in our equation."

Asha also recollected how Lata was known to hold up to her professional personality, making it look like she and Lata had no relation outside their home. Asha noted that there was no relation between her and Didi when it came to singing. She was Lata Mangeshkar outside, and she had her own status in the world. At home, they talked but outside, there were no casual interactions. She maintained her aura, her presence, and her stature as the Lata Mangeshkar.
