Ashley Biden's Divorce Reason Revealed, What Made Her End Her 13-Year Marriage With Dr Howard Krein?

Ashley Biden is the daughter of the former US President, Joe Biden. She has filed for divorce from her husband, Dr Howard Krein. The couple was married for 12 years before they announced their separation. Interestingly, Ashley shared the divorce news with Beyonce's 'Freedom' song. However, people have been wondering what made her take the decision to part ways with her plastic surgeon husband, Howard Krein.

Ashley Biden's divorce reason

At the age of 44, Ashley's divorce buzz was all over the international media. According to the New York Post, Ashley submitted the paperwork at the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Later, she shared a couple of photos on her Instagram story. In the first photo, Ashley was walking through a park and giving a thumb-up, and Beyonce's Freedom song was playing in the background.

In another story, Ashley shared a quote which talked about new life, new beginnings, and new boundaries, which was a confirmation. The note can be read as "New life, new beginnings mean new boundaries. New ways of being that won’t look or sound like they did before." It is worth noting that the reason for Ashley Biden and Howard Krein's divorce has not been disclosed. As in Philadelphia, divorce records are kept private.

How Ashley Biden met Dr Krein

Ashley and Krein met through Beau Biden, one of the former's half-brothers. They soon started dating in the summer of 2010. It was in October 2011, when Krein popped the question and proposed to Ashley at sunset on a cliff in Big Sur, Calif. It was a dreamy proposal, and Ashley said 'yes'. It is worth mentioning that Krein took permission from Ashley's father, Joe Biden, who was serving as the vice president at that time. Joe Biden thought Krein was the 'right guy' for his daughter. 

After a year of engagement, in June 2012, the couple got married in Greenville, Delaware. The wedding was organised at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church, and Ashley was baptised in front of 200 guests. 

Joe Biden was the happiest for the wedding as he seemed extremely emotional at the thought of his youngest child's marriage. He once told People, "I kept telling Ash, we’ve got to open up the church and practice walking up and down the aisle so I can handle it." While talking about seeing his daughter in a veil, Joe added:

"I think to myself, aw, God, my little girl! This can’t have passed so quick."

Joe Biden also revealed that Krein formally took permission from him before proposing to his daughter, Ashley, and it was for him to know that he is the one for her. Later in an interaction, Ashley revealed how her father, Joe Biden, reacted to her wedding. Talking about the moments before walking the aisle, she said:

"Before he walked me down the aisle, he turned to me and said he would always be my best friend. All these years later, Dad, you are still my best friend."

Who is Howard Krein?

Howard Krein is born and brought up in New Jersey. He has worked hard to make a name for himself as a top otolaryngologist and facial plastic surgeon at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Not only this, he is also a professor of facial, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and co-director of the university's facial aesthetic centre. He is also known for providing training to many young doctors and balancing surgical work and teaching.
