Actors, Ashutosh Rana and Renuka Shahane are among the most loved couples in Tinseltown. The duo has been together for over two decades and has two beautiful children. The two first met at Hansal Mehta’s movie preview. Although the film didn’t see the light of day, it led to their first fortunate encounter, and the rest is history.
However, the duo did not have a conventional love story. It was laced with a lot of insecurities and fears, and it was Renuka's second marriage after a failed relationship, and she was very scared about it. But, Ashutosh calmed her down and eased the process for her. However, Ashutosh himself, at one point, was not convinced if his marriage with Renuka would even last two days.

In an interview with The Lallantop, Ashutosh said that he dated Renuka for a few months and wanted things to be that way only. However, his father, told him to propose to her for marriage. He told his father that the two of them have very different thought processes and they wont even last two days together as a married couple, but his father was persistent in getting them married. In Ashutosh's words:
“We didn’t want to get married. We wanted to stay committed as friends. I thought I will change after marriage. But fortunately, that did not happen.”
Later, after talking to his dad, Ashutosh proposed to Renuka. he went to her and said, "I have a request. I want to get married to you. Will you’?” After this, the duo tied the knot in a lavish ceremony which was attended by 1.5 lakh people. The duo have been married for more than two decades now.
Like every love story, this one, too, had a few glitches. While Renuka had some doubts because of her previous short-lived marriage, Ashutosh had no qualms about their compatibility. Ashutosh shared:
"Her past didn't feature in any of our long discussions, there were no doubts on my part."
There was one more thing that made Renuka's mother feel a little apprehensive about this match. Renuka, who was torn between her own feelings and her mother's concerns, found herself in a delicate situation. In her words:
"My mother was very tense, not because it was my second marriage, but due to Ashutosh's family background. His family, which hails from a little hamlet in Madhya Pradesh, consists of twelve members."
