Body shaming is unacceptable. However, we live in a society where people feel that commenting on somebody's physique and body type is normal. People feel that since they have the freedom of speech and expression they can use hurtful comments on others, without caring about that person's feelings. And, when it comes to women in the entertainment industry, they are trolled for being 'too skinny', 'too fat' and what not.
Among the Bollywood actresses, who have faced body shaming at some point in their acting career, one name is Suniel Shetty's daughter, Athiya Shetty, who has been a victim of body shaming. Athiya was criticised for being too skinny when she had made her debut with the film, Hero, opposite Sooraj Pancholi. The actress revealed that she has faced body shaming in her childhood as well because of her body type and that it took her a long time to gain her lost confidence.

In a recent interview with Bollywoodlife, Athiya Shetty revealed that she has been a victim of body shaming in her childhood as well because she looked a certain way and that it took her a long time to gain her lost confidence. She said:
"Yes I have fallen into the category of body shaming when I was young. People need to realise that body shaming is not only associated with being overweight but also being skinny. I have always believed that commenting on someone's weight, appearance or anything that can make them less confident is something that is inappropriate."
Further in the interview, Athiya revealed that body shaming had made her lose confidence in herself. However, the actress came out of that dark phase and regained her confidence. Talking about her healing process, she said:
"I used to be very, very conscious of my body and I still am, but I am a lot better because I am a lot more confident about myself and who I am as a person today."

The actress also talked about the notion of beauty in society and said that social media is playing a major role in promoting the so-called standards of beauty. In her words:
"There are so many false adjectives of beautiful. I think it is scary because you see so many people wanting to look the same way and because of social media it is also starting from a very young age which is sad."

Athiya emphasised the fact that flaws are a characteristic of being human and there's nothing wrong with imperfections. She also mentioned that women are more prone to body-shaming than men, and added:
"Being imperfect is your own perfect, it is important to help society understand that not everyone is the same so I think it's more spoken about for women rather than men to have different body types. All men don't need to be muscular and look a certain way because it is tough to sometimes be a certain way and you shouldn't need to feel that."
On the other hand, Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul's rumoured relationship has been doing rounds on social media platforms for quite some time. Even though they have restricted themselves from posting pictures or videos with each other but on their special occasions like birthdays, they couldn't help but share their unseen PDA pictures on their social media platforms, wishing each other. On November 5, 2021, on Athiya's birthday, KL Rahul had taken to his IG handle and shared two goofy pictures with her and had captioned it as:
"Happy birthday my (with a heart emoticon)."
On the work front, Athiya Shetty was last seen in the film, Motichoor Chaknachoor.
