The showbiz is not just known for its glamorous life but the addiction it instils in an actor to be always on the top and be remembered forever. While some actors make a permanent place in our hearts, some fail to leave a lasting impact. One such actress, who bowled everyone with her gorgeous girl-next-door looks and enchanting smile is actress, Ayesha Jhulka. One of the finest actresses of the 90s, Ayesha is still remembered for her stellar performance in the film, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, where she played the role of 'Anjali', who was madly in love with her childhood friend, 'Sanju' (Aamir Khan).
Best known as the Pehla Nasha girl, Ayesha Jhulka had made her Bollywood debut in the film, Kurbaan in 1991. Post Kurbaan, she had appeared in Mansoor Khan’s directorial film, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, opposite Aamir Khan. Ayesha had acted with the leading names of Bollywood in the 90s and was a popular face, courtesy her stunning looks. The actress was on top of her career when she had decided to quit the glamour world to lead a normal life.

Ayesha Jhula had gotten married to construction tycoon, Sameer Vashi in 2003 and is enjoying her married life. In an interview with ETimes, Ayesha opened up about her decision to quit Bollywood and why she decided not to have children. Revealing the reason behind why she refrained from motherhood, Ayesha said, “I don't have kids as I didn't want them; I spend a lot of time and energy on my work and social causes. And I am glad that my decision went down well with the entire family.”

She further spoke about her husband, Sameer and said that she is lucky to have a partner like him, who has always been her pillar of strength. She stated how Sameer has always let herself be, without pressurising her over anything. In her words, “He has enhanced my life by giving me the freedom to express myself in various quarters of life and supporting me in whatever I wanted to do. I never felt any pressure.”

Although all her films did fairly well at the box-office, but the film, Dalaal was her biggest high. Ayesha was one of the top heroines in the 90s, despite that she had left her flourishing career to lead a normal life. Talking about the same, Ayesha said that she wanted to leave the industry when her films did well rather face failures and being frustrated. She also revealed that she wanted to enjoy her married life and consider it as the right decision.

Although she is still seen doing small roles but Ayesha stated that it is purely for her friends. Ayesha had begun her acting career in 1983 as a child artist in the film, Kaise Kaise Log. In a throwback interview with the Hindustan Times, Ayesha had revealed how acting was always on her wish list. Talking about the same, she had stated, “I was a movie buff since my childhood days. My mother used to scold me that there is a particular time to watch TV. But my father is from the Air Force, so I grew up liberally. I think acting came to me naturally as I used to spend a lot time in front of the mirror wrapping my mother’s scarf around me and enacting the scenes from the movies.”

In the same interview, Ayesha had shared how after her marriage with Sameer, she had wanted to focus on her personal life and had said, “When I got married (to Sameer Vashi), I wanted to lead a civilian’s life and wanted to see the other side of the world. As I started working at a very young age (in 1983), for many years, I just worked. After a point I wanted to enjoy my life, I wanted to party with my friends and do lot of things for which I have to thank my husband, who has opened that world for me which I have been enjoying all these years.”
Do you know, Ayesha had faced some harsh times as she was bed-ridden for some time because of her slip disc and had gained a lot of weight too. She was last seen in the film, Genius in 2018 and apart from doing small roles in movies, she co-owns a construction company, SamRock, a clothing line, a spa and a boutique resort in Goa. Apart from all these, Ayesha is actively involved in social causes and animal aid.
Within a short span of time, Ayesha had proved her mettle in acting and had made a permanent place in our hearts. Her innocent eyes and enchanting smile had won her millions of fans and we still get nostalgic seeing her on-screen.
