It was on February 16, 2022, when one of the biggest names in the Indian music industry, Bappi Lahiri, had breathed his last, leaving behind a legacy that would be impossible to surpass. Fondly known as 'Bappi Da', he was popular for his fascination for gold. He was also known as the true blue 'Disco King' of Bollywood, and his loss is irreplaceable. Bappi Lahiri had passed away due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
On February 17, 2022, Bappi Lahiri's last rites took place, and since morning, the entire nation is mourning the loss of such an iconic artist. From Bappa Lahiri carrying his father along with some other family members for the antim darshan to watching his sister, Rema Lahiri, being completely inconsolable watching her dad being taken away from her, it's disheartening to see them in so much pain.

According to a report in Indiatoday.com, late iconic music composer and singer, Bappi Lahiri's gold and jewellery collection consist of many luxurious items. According to reports, an election affidavit was filed back in 2014, in which it was reportedly mentioned that the singer has a total of 754 grams of gold. As per the latest reports and speculations in media, Bappi Lahiri's gold collection is currently valued at the gigantic sum of Rs. 38,71,790 lakhs. The gold collection includes chains, bracelets, pendants, rings, gold cufflinks, gold frames, and encrusted diamond pieces. As per the report, it is suggested that Bappa and Rema are going to preserve all his ornaments and jewellery to keep their father's legacy intact.
It is also being stated that they will do everything in their power to safely guard their late father, Bappi Lahiri's gold jewellery collection as a part of their family's heirloom. Other than his famous gold jewellery collection, Bappi Lahiri was also a massive fan of swanky cars and had some cool ones parked inside his garage. According to reports, Bappi Lahiri was the proud owner of a BMW, Tesla X, Audi, and two unnamed luxury cars. Talking about the singer's total assets, then Bappi Lahiri's net worth is reportedly estimated to be around Rs. 22 crores.
For the unversed, late Bappi Lahiri had time and again opened up about his 'true love' for gold. He had also added that he had believed 'gold' as his lucky charm, which was the reason why he had always carried a lot of gold jewellery with him.

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, late Bappi Lahiri was asked to reveal his plans for Dhanteras 2021. Answering this, the late veteran singer had revealed that he had got tired of buying gold chains and had told his wife, Chitrani Lahiri, to buy a gold tea set. Bappi had added that his wife had fulfilled his wish, making him super happy. He had said:
"Today on Dhanteras, I asked my wife to bring me a gold tea set. I saw a beautiful tea set and I wanted to have it. She went shopping and bought gold for me on this auspicious occasion. I didn't take gold chain this time. Everything is gold. I thought a tea set or a cup and a plate would be better."
Going further in the interview, late Bappi Lahiri was asked to share his reaction to being hailed as the 'Gold Man of India'. Answering this, the singer had clearly stated that it was an honour for him to be called up with such a unique and great title. Showing his delight, Bappi had said:
"I am proud to be called the Gold Man. Gold is lucky for me. When I started wearing gold, my songs started becoming hits."
