'BB19', Ismail Darbar Slams Amaal Mallik For Remark On Awez Darbar And Nagma, 'Aukaat Tumhari...'

The reality show, Bigg Boss is renowned for its catfights and controversies. Its latest season is no different, with daily spats over trivial issues. Among the contestants, the ones who haven't had heated arguments with their fellow BB19 housemates are this season's only couple, Awez Darbar and Nagma Mirajkar. They have been trying to avoid getting involved in fights while staying loyal to their friends. However, a comment by Amaal Mallik, demeaning the duo's professional lives, received a stern response from Aweez's father, Ismail Darbar.

What controversial comment did Amaal Mallik make about Awez Darbar and Nagma Mirajkar?

While chatting with fellow contestant, Zeishan Quadri, Amaal Mallik said that he knew Awez and Nagma from outside the show. He explained that since they collaborate on reels using his songs, they depend on him for business, which is why they maintain a cordial relationship with him. He indirectly hinted at the couple associating with people with hidden agendas, which didn't sit right with Awez's father, Ismail Darbar.

Amaal's statement was not heard by anybody else, and naturally, it didn't reach the concerned contestants, Awez and Nagma. Therefore, there was no opportunity for rebuttal. If they somehow came to know about it, the audience might have seen a different, possibly aggressive side of the otherwise peaceful contestants. As the remark was made behind Awez's back, his father, veteran music director Ismail Darbar, took it upon himself to defend his son.

Ismail Darbar's lashed out at Amaal Mallik for his remark on Awez-Nagma

Ismail Darbar, who might have watched the particular clip of Amaal on television, strongly criticised his comments. In an interview with Viral Television, he asserted that his son, Awez, achieved his success independently and did not rely on anyone's help, not even his own father's. Comparing the 35-year-old singer-songwriter's career with that of his choreographer son, Ismail said that the former was nowhere near as successful as the latter. Mentioning that, it would take Amaal a lifetime to earn the same level of popularity as Awez, Ismail said:

"Awez Darbar ne usski baap ki ungli nahi pakdi, na hi baap ne usski ungli pakdi. Awez Darbar ki barabari karne mein, iss janam mein toh Amaal Mallik ko jagah nahi hain. Rahi baat woh jo business de raha hain na, toh beta pehle apna toh business sambhaal le."

Ismail Darbar didn't stop at that; he further stated that Amaal does not have the 'aukaat' (standing) to give Awez work. He dismissed Amaal's claims that Awez needed to collaborate with him for fame and said that it was, in reality, the other way round. According to Ismail, it was Amaal who needed Awez's influence to promote his songs to the public. Alleging that Amaal has not achieved anything significant enough to be able to give Awez 'business', Ismail said:

"Sachayi toh yahi hain na. Tune aise jhande nahi gaade jo tu Awez Darbar ko business dene waale ban jaoge. Woh aukaat tumhari abhi bani nahi. Haan, ye bolo ki tumhare gaane ko logon tak pahuchane ke liye Awez ki zarurat padi tumko. Toh ulta mat batao."

While outside the house, the Amaal-Ismail controversy is gaining traction, Amaal and Awez are maintaining a cordial bond in the Bigg Boss 19 house. In the latest episode of the reality show, Awez proposed to his girlfriend, Nagma, by singing a sweet love song composed by Amaal. Awez wanted to let the world know about his love for Nagma, as he fears getting evicted from the house this weekend.
