Recently, a small aircraft, Beechcraft B200 Super King Air, crashed on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the London Southend Airport. According to a report by Zeusch Aviation, the plane involved in the crash was heading to Southend and had flown from Athens, Greece, to Pula, Croatia. It was set to return to Lelystad, Netherlands. Essex Police officials were alerted about the serious incident just before 4 p.m. at the airport. The plane was all set for the takeoff position, and the pilot even waved to his family, who told him bye one last time. However, the cost of the small aircraft was in millions.

Beechcraft B200 Super King Air cost in millions and could carry six passengers

Reportedly, the Beechcraft B200 Super King Air was equipped with medical systems for transporting patients, and the British media reported that it is 12 metres long, approximately 39 feet. According to a report by The Independent, the aircraft is around USD 1.47 million, which is equivalent to Rs. 12.29 crore. According to the report, the plane can accommodate six passengers along with two cabin crew members. In length, the cabin stretches around 17 feet and has a cruising speed which is of 285 miles every hour or also called 290 knots.

Other reports are stating that the Beechcraft B200 Super King Air aircraft, which is US-built, can roughly accommodate around 20 people. The jet turbine-based plane serves as an air ambulance for emergency medical evacuations and is also utilised for short break charter flights, carrying light freight. The aircraft has leather-based interiors and offers a six-to-eight-seater journey for the passengers. The company reportedly has claimed that the aircraft is the most popular business turboprop in the world.

Now, as per the latest report, all the flights have been cancelled until further notice, while cops, emergency officers, and workers are working at the scene. It has been reported that the Model 200 and Model 300 series were first marketed under the Super King Air name by Beechcraft. The official website of the company introduced the King Air 360ER, King Air 360, and King Air 260 models. They had a max seating space of 15, 11 and 9.

It was in December 2020 when the King Air 260 was introduced, which was an update to the 200 series and had an improved multi-scan weather radar facility as well as an improved version of the autothrottle. The top speed of the aircraft was around 310 knots and was in a range of 1,720 nautical miles, as per various reports online.

The crash that took place at the London Southend Airport has left passengers shocked who were waiting to board their respective flights. There were many who had seen that the aircraft was engulfed in flames as they were waiting for their planes to take off. A family who was present at the site shared that the pilot of the aircraft even waved at them. A man from the family told Sky News:

"We all waved back at them as they carried on taxiing to their take-off point and turned around. Then they throttled up the engines and passed by us. The aircraft took off and within a few seconds it had a steep bank angle to its left."
