Iconic singer, Krishnakumar Kunnath is better known by his stage name, KK. His contribution to the Bollywood music industry is phenomenal, and his hit tracks capture the essence of love in all its form. Unfortunately, on May 31, 2022, the most loved singer left for his heavenly abode, leaving a void in the hearts of his million fans. From Emraan Hashmi to Armaan Malik, many artists and Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express their grief and condolences. However, famous Bengali singer, Rupankar Bagchi trolled the late singer on his Facebook handle and asked, ‘Who is KK?’
For those who don’t know, KK had gone to perform a live concert in Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha. And after a few hours of his performance, he had started to feel uneasy. On reaching his hotel room, the singer had collapsed. Hence, KK was rushed to a hospital. A senior official from the hospital had stated that KK was brought to the hospital post 10 PM, where he was found dead on arrival. His family had come to Kolkata on June 1, 2022, as the singer’s body went for post-mortem. Moreover, West Bengal's chief minister, Mamata Banerjee was also spotted paying tribute to the late singer.

A few hours ago, Bengali singer, Rupankar Bagchi took to his Facebook handle and held a live session with his fans. In the video, Rupankar is seen questioning the identity of KK and talking about the frenzy around KK’s concert in Kolkata. Rupankar also said that regional singers of Kolkata are better than KK. He further named some famous singers of the city of joy and asked his Facebook audience why they did not get excited about their performances as much as they were excited about the late singer’s concert. In his words:
“I got to know through Facebook that the one and only KK was in Kolkata for a show and there has been a lot of excitement about it. I have seen videos of mine, Anupam Roy, Somata, Emaan Chakraborty, Ujjaini Mukherjee, Cactus, Fossils, Rupam Islam and others. I think we all sing better than KK, why do you not get excited about us? What is the reason?”
Well, Rupankar did not stop there. He went on questioning KK’s stardom and asked, ‘Who is KK?’ Before ending his live video, Rupankar urged the netizens to explore more regional talents from Bengal, Orissa, Punjab and others, except for obsessing over Bombay’s celebs. He stated:
“Who is KK? We are better than any K. All the singers I have mentioned are far far better than Mr KK. Be a Bengali, guys please.”
