Salman Khan and Bhagyashree captivated the audience with Sooraj Barjatya’s much-loved film, Maine Pyar Kiya. The film that was released in 1989 had completed its 35th anniversary in 2024. The film was a huge hit at the box office, and the fans loved the lead pair's chemistry. The songs were chartbusters.
Bhagyashree, in a candid interview with Kovid Gupta Films’ YouTube channel, shared about the time she was shooting for the film. She revealed that there was one point when Bhagyashee thought Salman was definitely flirting with him on set. During the interview, the actress was quoted saying:
"I was feeling lonesome because I had no family with me. We had to shoot Dil Deewana, and suddenly Salman came and sat right next to me and started singing the song into my ear. He had always been such a gentleman on set and so nice to me that I couldn’t understand. Well, it just seemed like crossing the line over flirting and I said, 'Why is he doing this?'"
The actress shared that Salman Khan would follow her around and kept on singing the song, Dil Deewana to her. Bhagyashree added that she was confused and asked the actor about what was going on. She recalled that as soon as she asked Salman, the actor said he knew about Himalaya Dasani. For the unversed, the actress married the latter in 1989 and has two children with him. Bhagyashree revealed that from that time, the two of them developed a special friendship that has lasted decades. Bhagyashree was quoted saying:
"He would follow me around and keep singing the song, and I would say, 'What’s happening here?' He finally took me to the side and said, 'I know!' I was like, really? He said, 'I know who you are in love with...He said, 'I know about the Himalayas. Why don’t you call him here?' I was like, 'Oh my god! This can’t be happening.'"
Maine Pyaar Kiya was re-released in the theatres on August 23, 2024. The re-release celebrated the film's 35th anniversary. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film falls under the romantic genre. The film also featured talented actors, including Alok Nath, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Rajeev Verma and Ajit Vachani.
The film is based on the lives of 'Prem' and 'Suman' and their journey from friendship to love. The film beautifully captured the evolution of their innocent friendship and how it bloomed into pure affection for each other. The skilful filmmaker Sooraj introduced Salman as a lover-boy of Bollywood through the film in 1989. The duo enchanted the audience with their magical number once again with hit films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Hum Saath-Saath Hain.
