Shah Rukh Khan has been among the most popular stars ever produced by the Hindi film industry. He has achieved unprecedented success in his three decades-long-career and delivered iconic films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Veer-Zaara and more. Along with money and fame, the actor earned a lot of respect inside and outside the industry. But, in a recent interview, popular journalist, Bharathi Pradhan shared that she holds a major grudge against something the superstar did with the media. Here's what happened.
Bharathi Pradhan recently sat down for an interview on ANI with fellow journalists like Komal Nahta and shared some lesser-known insights about the presence of paid reviews and PR tricks in Bollywood. During the discussion, Bharathi revealed that she holds one thing against Shah Rukh Khan, which is how he treated and controlled the media during the press conference of his film, Jawan. In her words:
"Don't call it a press conference, and this is something I hold against Shah Rukh Khan for sure because he did something I find unforgivable because he had a film called Jawan come out, they called it a press conference."
Bharathi shared that Shah Rukh Khan and Jawan's team invited all the popular journalists when they held a press conference. However, they had cordoned off the media, controlling their movements and words during the event. Later, the film's team members walked down the stage like a ramp walk, and they arranged for their fans and other people to sit in the front rows. Just those people got the opportunity to ask questions to the cast. Meanwhile, the media personnel couldn't talk or ask any questions. Describing the scene that unfolded at the press conference, she said:
"The media wasn't even allowed access because they cordoned it off. So, how do you call it a press conference and then you are all the time talking about Modi ji not doing a press conference, tum log karo pehle? You people have lost the meaning of a press conference, but when Akshay had Skyforce, he was willing to take all kinds of questions."
When Bharathi Pradhan levelled the serious allegations of media control against SRK, it received mixed responses from fans. Some people were unhappy with the journalist comparing Shah Rukh to PM Modi, while others recalled how the media did insensitive coverage of Aryan's arrest in 2021. One Reddit user penned, "I swear this nation's media is a joke." Another netizen wrote, "Lol madam circus bhool gayi during Aryan's case. Not an SRK fan, but good job."
