Bharti Singh is one of the most loved television personalities, who made people laugh their hearts out with her comic acts. The stand-up comedian recently shared how she was touched inappropriately during her college days. Bharti also revealed that she didn’t understand what was happening to her initially, as she was never taught about inappropriate touch.
In an interview with Raj Shamani for his podcast, Bharti shared that during her college days, she visited other colleges too for workshops and skits. As she was supposed to take an early morning bus, it was surrounded by milkmen, who often touched her inappropriately. Speaking about the same, she shared:
“Jab paise bilkul nahi the, main colleges mein comedy skits karvane jaati thi. Mujhe samajh nahi aata tha tab. Aaj good touch-bad touch batate hai, mujhe toh pata hi nahi tha.”
In the same interaction, Bharti also shared that no one ever taught her the difference between good touch and bad touch. It took her more than a year to understand what was happening. Recalling one horrific incident from the same, she narrated:
“Mujhe dedh saal tak samjha hi nahi ki chhed rahe hai. Jab kisine kass ke pakda, phir samajh aaya lekin sochti rahi ki voh girne laga ho aur vahi cheez haath mein aa gayi.”
Going further in the interview, Bharti revealed that as she grew older and understood what was happening, she didn’t stop and started giving it back to the men. She also revealed hitting men taller than her for touching her inappropriately. In her words:
“Jaise main dimag se badi hui, good touch-bad touch samajh aa gaya, toh mere andar ki Bharti jagi aur maine maari bohot kohniyan. Maine apne se lambe lambe ladkon ko mara chahe mere haath baad mein kaampe.”
Bharti rose to fame with her character 'Lalli' in the comedy reality show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 4. The show made her an overnight star and opened the doors for various opportunities. She later appeared in Comedy Circus and hosted Comedy Nights Bachao.
